Body shell. A little to optimistic for me...

I sent an a email inquiry into who made the body and who made the chassis?
I seen these on the samba a few months ago,and think beck were selling them. They said that there not beck, but I'm not sure why he was selling them. He had I want to say 10 of them and I think they were only 8,000. This guy must be trying to flip them. I'd love to sell mysuby powered cmc and pick one up.
No, it's not Beck. Theirs will be a C body, and it won't be available unfinished (I think). that chassis certainly looks interesting.
It was Beck selling them, Bremen, Indiana.

These were listed on the Special Edition website and many other sites as well. Can't remember if they said, who made them.
I looked at one in person during my day trip to Breman last year. I believe the bodies/chassis came from the large country in south Asia. If I recall, the chassis were stainless?
Regardless, they were no easy switch to a conventional driveline.
Yes, they did come through my shop and all of them sold. All TIG welded stainless chassis. They were built by the Ariel Atom factory in Asia, but they abandoned the project. My father is good friends with the owner of that factory and we helped them get out from under the project is all. It is NOT a Beck, we just helped sell them is all. We actually did find all the donor parts to complete the suspension, which were the same as the US Sazuki Samurai. That's all I know about that...
What a strange donor choice. They were (all?) 4 WD and a 1.3L 66 hp engine. They still have a strong off-road following in US and prices are $3k or better. I recall a Consumer Report article with it on 2 wheels going around a corner saying it had a propensity to roll over! Kind of like using a Skoda as a donor though.
Yeah, wouldn't;t have been my first choice either, but for the market they were created for these are very common parts still used on other cars today, so I guess it made sense tot hem.
Well ya learn sumthin' new every day.
...used Skoda...now that's funny. Those piles are all over the Czech Republic, smoking and making the air funky...
SS tubing has to be a premium to build over dom, and maybe a bit harder for the average DIY boy to modify as needed for whatever (Suby, whatever transaxle, etc.). I wonder why they chose that.
Still, an intriguing project.

Personally rolled one of these off the road near Oakhurst, Ca in 1989. Came away unscathed. Surreal experience, felt like slow motion when it happened.
