Hello everyone!

I'm the lucky guy that ended up with Troy's famous black speedster.  I live in Chicago and have had it for a little over a month now.  All I can say is that driving this car downtown is about as close to being a celebrity as I'll ever get.  It's almost dangerous how many people want to take pictures of it and with it.  Just last week a guy jumped out in front of the car with his selfie stick as the light turned green!

It's an awesome car and I am really enjoying it!  I'd love to connect with Troy on a few things.

This was the first time I drove it out to dinner at a new Chicago hot spot.  The parked it up front....in what I'd like to "call good company".  Now the owners of all of those cars where at my table with envy.  Haha!

Hi Dave,

I am in Chicago as well. I had the same experience with my car. In fact, one night I went to Shula's Steakhouse and the valet left my car in front of the restaurant/hotel and told he was glad I was done with dinner because he spent the whole time keeping people from climbing in the car and taking pictures.

Lots of good people in the Chicago area with speedsters,so watch for details, might be a gathering sometime in the near future.

Tom

I guess I am having the opposite experience.
At 3 months : still fighting the dmv to get a title, meanwhile I keep finding new things wrong with the car (engine compression, cv joints, ball joints, shocks, ... oh well.
Sometimes it goes like this.
I still like my neglected IM and will eventually turn it into a great car.

What a novel idea - buy the car and drive it... wow! Dreamland.
Congrats.
:-)

Paul,

You better get used to it. People drive close to you on the highway to take pictures, they stop you at the gas station and want to know what kind of car it is,they want to take pictures of their friends standing by it...you get the picture.

At the end of the day, it is just a car and in most cases, people are very respectful around it.

Just comes with the territory of owning something a little different that the rest of the world.

Since this thread has percolated back up, I'll take the opportunity to mention that the silver and black Vintage Outlaw that I have been preparing is nearly ready to have it's 2110cc motor installed.

The car is a full on Outlaw, no trim, no bumpers installed (but included) , bee hives, louvered deck lid, new Wide 5s with extended studs, polished wheel skins, hood straps, GT mirrors, Marshal fog lights, new paint, 2110cc motor with zero miles, ceramic coated A1 sidewinder header, 3" Crow racing belts, Chrome Tenax fasteners and more....

I've been taking my time with it due to vacations and other obligations, but it won't be long now.

Hello Ivan.

The cream colored Speedster was completed and sold a couple of months ago.  Ironically, it went to a guy in Florida.  The silver/black car is nearing completion, but I still have a few more weeks of work to do on it.

The engine just went in last night.  It's an outlaw with new paint, louvered deck lid, bee hives, wide 5s with extended studs and polished disk skins, Marshal fog lights, hood straps, zero miles on the 2110cc motor with dual 44IDF HPMX carbs, CB Performance electronic ignition and lots more.

This car is sweet!!!

I left you a PM with my phone number.

Nice Ride Dave and glad you have joined the "Madness", I see you are already having a great time with the speedy! Get used to getting more thumbs up than the Ferrari and Maserati jockeys...they're a dime a dozen and will be very jealous of the attention to your car vs theirs. You will find the SOC group to be a fantastic, knowledgeable, and friendly bunch of people. Have fun with your new ride!
