I'm planning on rebuilding my rear axles (I have IRS with CV's) and I'm looking for a source for high quality CV joints, as I'm running stout torque and want something strong.

Several places locally have pointed me to NAPA, but they want to sell me entire axle assemblies all built up, and at $70 complete for an entire axle assembly I really kind-of question the quality (especially when I've bought individual CV's for other applications before at close to that per joint) and you have no way of knowing whether the base axles are straight or not.

I have a pair of very straight bare axles that I want to use out of a Super-beetle (a tad beefier than my '69 versions) so I'm looking for a CV joint source that people have used and trust.

Recommendations??

Thanks, guys......

I called Ken and he has a source for OEM VW GERMAN CV's with all the fixins, so I'm getting some of those.

I got quotes all over the place: $35 - $85 per CV joint, depending on make and source, as well as complete axle assemblies from $65 - $140 (the latter are customs from Raxles in Florida).

I want to rebuild the ones I got as I found 7 axle assemblies nearby and out of that pile found two, absolutely straight, Super Beetle axles (and for FREE, too!)

So I know the axles are OK, and if I get quality CV's and assemble everything carefully, I hope to be far better off than what I have in there now.....(rumble, rumble.....)

Hope to have everything mint for the Tybee Island Tour in a couple of weeks....
