I leave Chilliwack at 06:30 on Oct 1st, meet Scott Sloan just north of Portland before noon, meet Dave & Linda Holmwood from Victoria B.C. in Eugene along with Ralph Conradt from Eugene for the rest of the journey. If any other Northwest Speedy folks want get in on the last run of the year in the N.W. let me know.
Rick
Rick,

You got yourself a convoy. I better start icing the beers down about 3PM if you guys and gals decide to do a I-5 boogie. Is everybody happy with beer or would a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine be good for the gals? Most gals don't like the golden goodness so let me know! I know, Brenda is a real trooper and does drink beer! Looking forward to meeting new people and old friends, (not age wise), and seeing the cars! Hopefully Angela Lane will have her beautiful 550 there for everyone to uh and ahh over!

Bruce
Bruce, a splash of vino always is welcome where friends gather. In fact I'll bring a red and white representing B.C.'s finest just to give the folks a taste, eh? That, along with the Molson's of course!
Maybe some of the NorCal gang can muster up something indigenous to the Golden State!
Rick
Ralph,

You done good! Next time I'm letting you set up the rooms. Actually that might be related to a news item on the the 5PM news a couple of days ago. They are ending the Hellgate Jet Boat rides early this year
because of the low water. The boats leave from the docks at the Inn. There is still lots of water in the river but I guess downstream a ways the sand bars are in pretty shallow water. This time of year before the winter snows and rains, they ease up on the water release from the dam upstream about 20 miles.

The weather has been super the last few days and the long range forecast looks good too. Cheaper rates, color is in progress in the hills and the wineries are crushing grapes! Yahoo.

Bruce
Dale,

Love to have you come up for our tour. If you come up 101 to 199, the Redwood Hwy, that will dump you off right near the Riverside Inn. Saw the long range forecast this morning thru next Friday. 80's and sunshine thru next Friday, will give more weather updates as the week progresses but looks like aces. Color is really starting to look nice.

Bruce
Dale,
If you drive up for this event, you and I can make another booze run like we did at Knotts yes/no? "We be baaad"
I'll have to be a good boy this time so Brenda doesn't get the wrong impression of the conservative, quiet time we all have at these Speedster gatherings...........ya....sure!
Hope to see you there Dale!
Only 7 more sleeps.....
Rick
Rick, Dale, et all.

I'll have the long necks on ice when you arrive on Friday. Good way to rid yourself of the dreaded "Trail Dust."

Dale, read one of the above notes on room rates, even lower than I got for the group rate. I think now at $79 vs the 93 I paid and was quoted. Will have to sweet talk them into lowering y rate to $79 also, hey, I can try! Phone # and other Inn info on the first post on this thread.

Bruce
OK,

Just got next weekends weather forecast from two sources. Both look great, one was sunny and mid 80's and the other was partly sunny and hi 70's, take your pick. In any case Friday, the travel day looks aces on both forecasts. I'll post updates every few days. Don't know what the B.C. guys are going to experience coming down but the weather channel last night still showed the jet stream still in Canada going straight East, That is a good sign!

Bruce
Just thought I would offer. If anyone attending the Oregon Tour would like to buy a speedster T shirt at the event, I would be glad to bring them along with me. That would save the shipping charges($3.95). Just let me know what size, and what car color you would like. We also have some shirts in white, and some in ash gray. The latest you will be able to let me know is Thursday the 30th at 9pm.

Eddie
To all SOT attendees and any lurkers out there in Speedster Land. Weather for the weekend is looking picture perfect, mid 80's and sunny. Bring the sunscreen as it will be top down cruising weather for sure! Anybody on the fence debating about coming, just do it. Will be fun to get a bunch of neat people and cars together. Give the locals something to get excited about.

My cell phone will be on Friday thru Sunday so if you want to call in then or need directions, give a call. 541 944-6631 cell, 541-828-5874 home.

Directions and other info are on this thread.

Looking forward to a great weekend, Bruce
JL,

Rick will be going right by there, maybe 30 miles away, either tonight or early in the morning. Doesn't really look like a biggy this time, if so, not much we can do about it. Scott may see something too but thank goodness it will probably blow east. The SOT is about 300 miles or so south so we should be happy in the swimming pool and hot tubs tomorrow night.

If you start driving right about now we'll see you mid day tomorrow John, the long necks should be ice cold by the time you arrive. Nice shakedown cruise for the GT!

Bruce
Watch those carbs JL. At our local Costco they sell a Jumbo hot dog or Polish saugage with a cold soda for $1.50, not bad. You should see the seniors in there at noon!

I'm rooting for the poor Cubbies to make the wild card but it may take a miricle. Good luck with the Dodgers, maybe they will face the Cubs if a miracle happens in Cub land.

Bruce
I'm super-bummed!!!!!

My wife is out there RIGHT NOW (in fact, she saw the Mt. St. Helens mini-eruptions today, from the Oregon side) and she's coming home tomorrow, when she and her friend (from Banks, OR) COULD have been joining you guys (OK, so her friend just had surgery, but it THAT an excuse?)

Meanwhile, I'm stuck back here in New England and had to run around a lot of twistie back roads in Vermont today, IN MY F150 PICKUP, because I was delivering car parts and couldn't make the trip in the Speedster. OK, so I had the two Jack Russels with me and it was 8 hours on the road, but they would've LOVED it with the wind blowing their little ears, right??????? (yeah, right.....)

I'm with you guys in Spirit.....GEEZ! I wish I were there....

gn
By now you guys have pop'd a few and gotten a few miles under the tires. I know you are having a great time and that Bruce has laid out some good roads. I hate it that I'm home and not up their with you all. Happy travels, safe roads, and no headaches! Here's to you guys/gals. Dale

Hi Everyone!
Took the little spitter to the tour down here that Bruce aka left coast Bruce arranged. Wonderful day, delightful company and gorgeous cars. Southern Oregon came thru with beautiful weather. The leaves are turning nicely and Bruce found great roads for us to drive. Smooth, light traffic, curves and great views. I live down here, so it was especially nice to share the roads with such a neat group of people. We had eight today, representing California, Oregon, (washington?) and British Columbia. We took alot of pictures, I'm sure they will be forwarded.

Annual event? Let's hope so!
angela
Hi everyone,

Just got back from the Sunday tour of Crater Lake and places on the way. As Angela said, the weather was incredible, even at Crater Lake it was in the 70's at 7000 feet. We kind of all went differant ways today, Dave Holmwood and wife decided to skip the Crater Lake portion and headed home to B.C. The tour today included Eddie Janis, Ray Armstrong, Rick and Brenda Davis, Scott Sloan and myself. Was a great tour, avoided a big deer that ran in front of my car, Eddie said there were two and put my right side in the gravel on one of the bends over a rise. The lighting was very tricky because of the picket fence effect of the sun shining thru the trees, got back on road with no damage other than a big cloud of dust. After a lunch in the cafe at Crater Lake everyone kind of split up and headed for home. We were laughing about who will get the pics up first. Angela sent me some from yesterdays tour, I'll get those up plus some of my own. Everyone else had the digitals working nonstop so we should have some eye candy for everyone over the next few days. Cars all ran like a charm, Angela preformed some slight surgery at the winery on Saturday and was soon on her way, gorgeous 550. Funny, as we were leaving the Valley View winery a whole passel of Corvettes pulled in doing the same thing we were doing. Had some nice words with them, class group.

West Coast Bruce, pics are coming!
