Is there a hollow section between where the luggage shelf (back seat) is and the engine bay on a VS built Speedster? I thought I read somewhere on the forum that someone cut out a panel and put a heater in there so I'm thinking there is a void there. I just want to know how much space there is and is it a sealed space?  I'm looking at and considering all of my options for speaker placement.  I've seen photos of a couple Speedsters that had speakers mounted into the wall of the luggage area.

If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

If you crawl underneath you should see space between the front firewall of the engine compartment and the back wall of the passenger cabin. In my older Intermechanica there's about a foot of free space directly above the differential area of the transaxle. It tapers a little as it goes up, as the back passenger cabin wall leans back. The firewall should have a 6 or 7" round hole for air access to the engine compartment.
