Brian, I put a full-sized spare in the front of my car 100 years ago, when it still had a luggage compartment, and it was heavy enough that it needed a strap to keep it off the battery.
It kept grounding the terminals because it hit on both sides. I was going through batteries like they were free before I figured it out.
Just FYI.
Lane... my Speedster body was made in Mexico about 4-5 years ago, by a company that is no longer in business. There was no "build book"; I've been "winging it" with periodic help from the SOC forum. I've occasionally refered to the FiberFab book in the SOC Library, but it is only good for general info because my body isn't a duplicate. There are many dimensional differences in the sub frame, trunk compartment, and in numerous details such as door latch location (center of the door as opposed to the upper portion of the door).

I tried an old 165/70/15 x 4 1/2", and it didn't allow the hood to completely close. I believe a 135 would fit, but can't find them in any tire distributers in the U.S.A.
FYI - those fix a flat in a can is a total waste of money / time.

they make a bloody mess out of your rim / tire and totally screw with your balance. It's a gummy, messy, foamy liquid, so after you "pump" up your tire with it and drive it - the foam settles to the bottom of the tire and screws the tire balance. i did this with an old car on expensive multi-piece BBS's and man it pissed me off. had to take it all apart to clean and re-seal everything.
