I used to have the strap-holder in my trunk. It was helpful in keeping the steel wheel from hitting both terminals of the battery.
It looked like the first item on this list: http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/accessories.php?sec=Body&model=356%201960-64&subsec=Front/Rear-Deck-and-Shocks
Brian thanks for the help. My spare actually sits in the compartment where your battery is located. Interesting though on how the front area could possibly be converted into a storage bin and fabricate a lid. Possibly the tire could then lay on top??? One consideration though is that my gas tank fill is in the middle which could get in the way. I'll have to check it out further when I get home tonight.
How about the brackets used for luggage in Porsches? They are available in chrome and black - plus plastic which is commonly used to asecure batteries.
