John Hallstrand posted an article in the "Knowledge" section and it emcompassed the installation of a Spare Tire in his 2000 VS.

I have an 1988 CMC and applied the same information. The 135 R15 tire was mounted to a steel 4.5 wheel and after positioning it in the front trunk all I had to do was modify the top portion of my Plastic
Battery Box Cover.

Many of us have asked about "Spare Tires", carring "Fix-A-Flat" and depending upon a Cell-Phone for Road Service if a Flat Tire happens.

There are a variety of Retail Stores in "Hot VW's & VW Trends" offering 135 R15 Tires and I picked mine up at CB Performance because of logistics. I picked up a 4.5" Steel Wheel at a VW repair Shop.

I was concerned if the VS Bodied Cars were similar to the CMC Bodied Cars because most of the cars are "One of A Kind" and have subtle difference's. In this case there appears to be no difference in "Trunk Clearance".
