I got the basics of this Spares list from the Jim Werner Austin Healey pages (my wife has a Healey) and thought it was the most complete list I had ever seen. After you get over the shock of "How the hell will I FIT all that in the car??" you'll realize that (1.) you probably might not need EVERYTHING and, (2.) what you finally decide to take will probably all fit under the hood, even with a spare - it just doesn't take up that much space and you all KNOW you should have most of this stuff on board. Most will fit within the spare wheel depression.

If you're planning on driving any distance this next season, you owe it to yourself to put a spares kit together, just in case. After all, we're all driving custom cars and much of what makes them go can't easily be found at your local "Bubba's garage". I expect to have at least this stuff with us for the Northeast Caravan to Carlisle. Any comments additions or deletions are welcome.

OK, so here's the list:

SPARES TO CARRY ON THE ROAD
---------------------------
SAFETY & CONVENIENCE
Flashlight
Fire Extinguisher (Halon)
CB Radio
Jumper Cables
Tow Strap
Mechanics Gloves
Coveralls
Hand-cleaning lotion
Sun tan lotion
Aspirin/Tylenol
East and West Coast Bruce

Taking a few cues from my list of stuff I usually pack when I'm making a long distance trip on the motorcycle...

- Fix-a-Flat
- Tire patch kit
- CO2 inflator kit with spare cartridges (saved my butt once on the bike! It won't fully inflate, but it'll roll well enough to get to a real air pump)
- RAINCOAT
- ziplock bags

I know there are a few things I'm forgetting, but this thread will be kicking around for a while.
OK, added those mentioned so far.

You know, I've always wanted something like one of those little trailers that the Street Rodders have - you know, the 30's retro-look, but instead of that look, have a trailer that's just the rear half (rear seat back) of a Speedster. Open the trailer "engine" cover and you'd have a pretty big trunk!

Paint it up same as my Speedster, flared fenders, same lights, wheels and trim........Now THAT would be cool! I could use some of Glenn's blended-in marker lights on that!

I know the list looks long, but it doesn't take up much space and when you need this stuff, you REALLY need it!
