I know this may sound like a really strange question, but I'm having a problem removing the spark plugs from my CB performance engine with 044 heads. I think they are the standard NGK plugs. Of course I can't see them to be sure.

I'm not sure if I have the right sized socket or if they are seized in the head. (I once had a vw bug that the owner super glued the spark plugs in, taking them out was not a good thing). I tried to remove one, with a 19mm and stopped when I thought the torque was a little too much.

Anyone have any ideas? How much torque is too much? Do I need a special thin walled socket because of the intake manifold? My whole reason to take one out was to install a cyl head temp gauge.

Turns out it was an 18mm socket and you have to be able to do all kinds of yoga positions. Took 18mmm socket, 2 2inch extensions and a wobble. O the joys of working on VW engines while they are in the car.

Everything is back together and I'll let you know how my Dakota Digital Cyl head temp works. It doesn't quite fit the looks of the car, but if it saves the engine, I can deal with the modern look.

Actually, it is the rectangle model that is on clearance at www.dakotadigital.com. Kinda has a vintage flare and thesamba guys said it is the only one that actually works.

Thanks for all your help
