the car runs not perfect

i know the last owner changed the plugs to the ones am having now ,i dont know why.

When am driving and take my foot of the pedal and then accelarate you here a really small bang in the exhaust ,

also the wires from the sparkplugs are way to Long

so i just like to start from Zero and adjust everething to the correct specifications

my dad is going to check the syncronisation from the carbs and measure the compresion from the engine  and the Timing also

then i Need to start with the correct sparkplugs ,i bought a set of bosche wires also to replace the Long ones

An engine like yours, California- dual carbs, W100 or W110 (more likely) cam and a little more compression(8 or 8.5:1) will be fine with stock heat range plugs for most street driving. You could try a step colder if you see some highway miles or some sort of competition in your immediate future (and I do mean IMMEDIATE), but as for whether to use Bosch, NGK's or Beru's (I don't even know if they're around any more), they all work.

Standard Tip - 14mm Long Reach

WR8Cc (7904) - Standard Heat Range Plug For All Stock  1700, 1800, 2000 Engines. Type 2 72-79, Vanagon 80-83, Type 4 71-74,  914 Porsche

WR7Cc (7998) - Recommended For T-4 & 914 Porsche Engines With  Higher Compression, Sustained High Speeds, Dual Carbs, Unleaded Fuel, And Fuel  Injection.

W8's are hotter running plugs for most normal driving conditions  as well as colder climate and lots of stop and go traffic.

W7's are colder running plugs for warmer climates and  extended/high rpm highway driving.  These were the plug of choice when  building those hi-performance motors as well because these motors tend to run a  little hotter than stock.

this i found on a Website about vw plugs

http://vw.zenseeker.net/Ignition-SparkPlugs.htm

so then the sparkplugs i have should be ok

but somebody else told me to go colder for 1915cc tuned engines?

so thats why am asking People with similar engines

Run the plugs you have (since you have them), but first read up on the effects of a too hot plug so you know what to look for should your engine run better with colder plugs. I found when I was running a 14 second Cal Look bug that when just toodling around town the colder plugs would foul prematurely after 2 or 3,000 miles, and ran better with the warmer plugs. For long highway trips or when bracket racing, the colder plugs made it the happiest. This was with a 009 (German) and Bosch blue coil. A capacitive discharge ignition box would have made things much easier! Al
