I take all this with a grain of salted sugar.there are some people that can never be satisfied.I personaly dont know squat about sas other that what I have seen on thier site. and then there are the people that hop on the band wagon to fan the flames and they have as much exp with sas as I do.is this fair to sas?is this fair to somebody that just wants a car,not a rolls but a replica and expecting such.but hears all this and .....it's no wonder somany company's go under and get bad reps.I wonder if there is realy any major issues? or just flaming by either"mr my **** dont stink" or somebody that has the best build out there and none compare to it(cmc). yes asa has issues, but whoo dosent??? I was kinda miffed by an another big name in speedsters when i went to look at a new one that wasent right.but they were trying to make it right for the new owner of a new speedster. everybody seems to like what they have and a majority also seem to look down on other makes for some "Superior"reason that is way beyond me.Ive seen it in almost everything, fords hate chevy&anything else, motorcycle riders hate everything but what there riding, rockers hate rap, rapers hate everything but money&white girls. so where does it all end? It dosent. It wont ever end, it's human nature to think and profess that you have the best and all others have/are squat. as for the waite times on these cars, who knows exzactly howmany are preordered?what is the parts supply like on every part? labor? is bubba sick today, did james the assembler get jenny the painter knocked up?and there with her dad (the interrior guy) at the hospital having a baby or two.or did they all get fired? and the line slows to a stop when the truck with parts falls off the banana boat from china. I kinda doubt that holdups are planed, and slowing the line is a wanted thing.but I could be rong as I have been 8 times now....or was that 7? if i could trade my speedster for a sas coupe I wouldent hesatate.after all just how bad could the build be? and I wonder why if everybody knows whats rong with thise cars why do they continue to make them rong.........is rong wrong or just different. yes this is more dribble for the spelling & grammer teachers with ocd and nothing better to do that chew on somebody.....other than sas.

Mark: Steve Lawing has filed bankruptcy how many times, and keeps changing the name. And yes, he has produced a few cars. And they are nice cars. The quality is not in question.

Basically, I'll go right out on a limb and say it plain: Steve Lawing is a sheister and a con-man, and doesn't really do a whole lot other than take money and NOT deliver.

Would you wait seven years after dropping a large deposit? I don't think anyone would.

I don't really care who likes what brand, I don't own a Speedster nor do I intend to ever. So I'd have to say I am unbiased as to brand but VERY biased when it comes to business practices.

Rant over.

Someone mentioned that Kirk is likely looking at water cooled engines.  Not that I am privvy to anything Kirk is thinking abou,t but I'd bet that he has no intention about starting with Subaru power---or coupe bills either.

He builds r-e-p-l-i-c-a Speedsters.  That means a car that looks like a Porsche 356 Speedster with an air cooled engine, like a Porache 356 on a pan---albeit an improved pan, .  That's right---he replicates the appearance as well as the power plant of a Speedster and he does what he knows  exceprtionally well.

I met a Doctor at Carlisle this year---great guy and loves the Speedster replica.  We took a long drive at Carlisle and he ordered a gorgeous red VS from Kirk when he got back home to Long Island.  He is probably taking delivery about now which is about 12-15 weeks after he ordered it..  Nice car, beautiful looking, eminently servicable, a great price and value, no hassles and fun, fun, fun.  Kirk's formula works and  lets him put out more cars than all other Speedster replicas combined. No, I'm betting that Kirk will keep doing exactly as he has to date without liquid coolong or coupes thank you very much.  (Not that liquid cooled  coupes don't excite me plenty!)

Wolfgang.  I'd love to see where it's documented that illegal immigrants are rapists.  That is what he said and he is defending that comment.

Trump is an embarrassment to the Republican party, but he is soooo much fun to laugh at!

9/12/2014 Huffington Post article gives some alarming numbers that support Trump's statement.  However the rapes are committed by not only the male migrants, but other players in the delivery chain as well.  I think Trump is an idiot but he is willing to make statements that spit in the face of PC, and that the other candidates wouldn't dare make.  Some of his thoughts on economic and foreign policy aren't so far fetched and hopefully will at least give food for thought to the real, viable candidates.

I think some of us are being perhaps a bit too harsh on Mr. Trump.

On this fourth of July, as we celebrate our independence from a land where class distinctions placed severe constraints on what an individual could accomplish in life, the Donald makes me proud.

He has shown that in this great land, any man, no matter how severe his mental limitations, can still aspire to our nation's highest office.

As much of a buffoon I or others think of Trump, let's take a serious look at some facts about him. He is a shrewd businessman, he's worth 9 Billion dollars, he is NOT a politician that tells you what you want to hear and does otherwise, has the balls to say what he believes, probably reflects what a lot of the "silent majority" think, and lastly he is moving up in the polls in face of those that are dropping him. I for one may not vote for him, I didn't vote for the present "censored" in office and he was elected, but I have to admit Trump is not "plastic" like so many of the current candidates. I'm just saying....

This thread drift has taken off on a controversial tangent! Allow me to participate.

Undeniable fact: When Obama was a candidate for senator he was being interviewed on a local Chicago TV news program. The reporter said "...but you weren't born in the U.S."

Obama replied "What does that matter?...I'M NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!"

Undeniable fact: His birth certificate lists the name of the Hawaiian hospital as it is now known (slightly changed after his birth)...Not as it was officially named then.

Undeniable fact: His social security number was issued from Connecticut where he had NEVER worked, lived, or attended school... That SS number belonged to an elderly retired gentleman who died in the nursing home that his communist mother-in-law worked at.

History tells us that the truth can't be repressed, denied, or subverted forever...It will emerge when people will no longer suffer by revealing it!

Really? You don't think the CIA, SS,Military Intellignece, and the serious Press wouldn't have exposed this as preventing him from the Presidency? How about McCain? He was born in the Canal Zone! Let's get real, what are you going to do AFTER he served TWO Terms and was voted in my MAJORITIES? Maybe expunge every photo, video and audio of him? ( they got good at that in the USSR) If you think a BLACK man from Africa could become President WITHOUT the support of the Oligarchs who REALLY call the shots your fooling yourself about reality! The Presidency is bought and sold, we just get to vote on which owned Politican we think looks good! LoL

Mikelson (David?) the founder of Snopes Myth Busters is not a neutral non-partisan in the political arena... and has bent over backwards providing 'logical sounding' explanations to debunk to what he calls 'myths' concerning liberal Democrats. The more powerful and influential they are (Clintons, Obama, etc.) the more he bends!

In 'debunking' the Social Security issue he explains that an innocuous clerical mistake in reversing a 6 and a 9 in a Connecticut issued number is probable and cites a Danbury zip code that ends in 14, the same as Obamas...Danbury Connecticut's zip code until two years ago has  (since zip codes were established) always been 06810...not 06814 as Mikelson claims...and that's undeniable because I went to college and lived in Danbury for ten years!!!

It's interesting that Mikelson has never attempted to rationalize why Obamas educational records from Occidental and Harvard are "unavailable"...could it be that he enrolled as a foreign student?...duh

SNOPES is hardly an unbiased fact checker! GOOGLE "Who really runs Snopes" - it a mom and pop shop with no investigative resources.  Suspect even Wiki is more creditable.

"A simple review of their (Snopes) "fact-checking" reveals a strong tendency to explain away criticisms towards liberal politicians and public figures while giving conservatives the hatchet job. Religious stories and issues are similarly shown no mercy. With the "main-stream" media quickly losing all credibility with their fawning treatment of President Obama, Snopes is being singled out, along with MSNBC and others, as being particularly biased and agenda-motivated."

This is why I try not to get drawn into political discussions (breaking my own rule here).  That Snopes isn't trustworthy as a source of information doesn't surprise me as I no longer trust any of them not to have agendas.  What does surprise me is how some people will drink the kook-aid and put all of their trust into one or another source that just happens to mirror their own beliefs.  I have a good friend that told me "Why should I listen to anyone but Fox?  When you find one trustworthy source why listen to anyone else?"  He believes everything they tell him without question and won't consider that any other source might actually be correct.  With this sort of stubborn trust in only one point of view being so common now days how will we ever bridge the gaps that divide us?  How will we ever solve any of our major problems when both sides are so dug in and unwilling to consider compromise?

Lane, people want the world to be simple. It's easier to blindly believe than think and have doubts.

One of my best friend is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, but can't handle and discussion which might rise doubt on any topic (like kangaroos hopping over to Australia after the ark within the supposed 6000 years earth's existence). It's just too uncomfortable.

Of course, the world is not simple and there is no black and white.

We have a variety of political, religious, and social opinions in this group. I just want to talk about cars.

I do, however, end up respecting the thinkers on here at a deeper level, whether I agree with them or not. Two stand outs are Todd & Stan. Different gentlemen with differing views on some things, but true thinking gentlemen who are trying to make sense out of this world.

This thread is a perfect example of the futility of debating politics and religion.  However we love to do it.  I'm as guilty as any.  It's like a bug drawn to the light can't stop myself.

Tom's post really got to the heart of the matter for me when he mentioned his friends in ability to deal with doubts.   I know people like that and while they can be extremely nice and decent people they frankly scare me to death.

In my opinion nothing in this world is known to the level of absolute certainty other then the fact that we will of course not live for ever.  They used to say death and taxes but it seems of late folks can afford taxes.  Just making a point.   (and I don't mean to say that there is no after life so don't go there but it's a perfect example of the point I am trying to make)

I think it's essential that we DO accept doubt and by that I mean enough doubt of our own convictions to allow others to have THEIRS.   If we could do that it certainly would make for a more peaceful world.

There have been thousands of religions and political concepts come and go over the time of mans existence the one thing they all had in common was the requirement of the faithful to believe without doubt.  Even those among us who claim to be atheists often are so convinced of their rightness that their atheism becomes in my way of thinking their religion.

I consider myself to be a scientific thinker but even that if taken to an extreme can be come inflexible.  Meaning that if a person does not or will not accept at least the possibility that there are "things" that even science can't explain then I think they also are wrong thinkers.

Let us always have personal convictions but maintain a degree of uncertainty.  My thinking is that there is a reason to believe that WE ARE ALL WRONG and history seems to support that. BUT I COULD BE WRONG.

The words " I don't know for sure "or "you could be right" certainly are music to my ears.

To add just a little more we base our opinions on what we perceive as facts.    Sadly for many reasons the facts in time turn out to be incorrect.  Another reason to be very careful of dogmatic thinking.    And we could talk about emotions.  To have a reasonable discussion we have to take emotions out of it and that's almost impossible to do.

It's a challenge to have a civil discussion and perhaps it's best to get back to cars.
