Hello. I’m looking for a speedster project or car to purchase if anyone can steer me in a good direction. Thank you

Not mine but here's a seemingly complete (I don't see anything missing) CMC in TX for $8k. It includes VW IRS chassis but no engine. Light and gauge openings were cut out but hoods never mounted. Has doors mounted. Cost is what the body kit sold for back in late '80. VW complete pan adds $1500-2000 - but no title. (Documentation says FiberFab as many CMCs were sold as either although CMC produced body. CMC bought FF early on).

If you look back a few posting, there was a red CMC wide body in FL, that was listed here, but was a facebook listing.
Here's the red wide body CMC listed in Hollywood, FL. It's $14k but appears to be missing quite a few parts. Needs engine lid outer shell $300, windshield assembly $1k, gauges $500, Interior $1200 - parts add up quickly. To its favor, it has a "rebuild" 2L 914 engine. The TX one seemed a better deal and a lot closer to Jeffp in Illinois Hollywood is over on the Atlantic coast of FL - I'm in NW FL and it would be a good 9+ hr drive one way for me (it's just North of Miami).

Here's a beautiful grey VS wide body with baseball glove color interior also on FL East Coast BUT for $45k (reasonable when looking at others for $40-60k).

Thanks!!!! I tried contacting the Texas owner x 2. No reply yet. The Florida car is wide body and u prefer the classic style. I’ve contacted so cal. I’m looking for a floor pan to cut n possibly buy a body and build. Would rather buy more of a car
Has anyone seen iconic auto body speedster body for a boxster conversion? It looks pretty cool
Be cautious buying a Speedster kit bit by bit. It can become expensive quickly. It's probably easier to restore a car that is together and runs (ran?). I have a CMC - lots of bits I didn't like (upholstery, vinyl top, vinyl tonneau) and replaced with new parts - but the rest was solid parts.
Here's a Subaru powered one (automatic) on Facebook in Calif for $22k. (Still listed but marked SOLD???)

22k for a clean, suby -powered Speedster with beehives? Listed 4 years ago? That’s not right, in some way.
Ric bought a CMC Widebody locally for $15K a few years ago, when they were regularly bringing $40-$50K on BaT. Running, driving. He replaced the cheesy EMPI Centerline knockoffs with Fuchs and flipped it for $25K. Had what appeared to be a box-stock 1600 w/a single carb, but still. It was kinda funky. Had SW gauges and an EMPI steering wheel and a few other easily remedied faux pas, but $25K.
I thought it looked stellar with the Coddington from his 904 on it. (While he waited on spacers for the Fuchs to arrive)It looks black in the pics, but it was actually very dark purple. You can kind of see it in that glare by the DS headlight. Looked good IRL.

I’ll look at the yellow. Cool black car. I’m also looking at iconic auto body. Swap a speedster to a boxster
The yellow one was SOLD just never deleted from FaceBook Market Place.
Check out Stark Motors—they are a sponsor of SOC. They make a Speedster from a Boxster. I've never seen one, but the photos looks top-notch.

Not sure they sell a kit - seem to be more a "bespoke" carriage.
AFAIK, Starke is vaporware.
