Hi
I am currently in the process of building my own 356 a body as I want a coupe rather than a speedster
Being in South Africa and having horrendous exchange rates plus the fact that coupes are usually turn key projects made it impossible to import a car. I started by buing a speedster body made by Replicars in South africa (probably a copy of the APAL kit)
I borrowed half a 356 shell and is currently up to my ears in making moulds and will eventually have a usable body. Here is a link to our South African Forum: http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=17418

What interest me at the moment is how other coupe builders have gone about making the moulds as I will have to follow suit and make a multy piece mould in order to be able to remove the completed product.
Does anyone have a photo or two of the moulds used. even a photo showing where the joint lines are will be helpfull
Regards
Armand

I admire your effort and it's looking good.

NO I have no molds.. but when your ready , I do have trunk floor patterns that you are more than welcome to have.

They allowed me convert my VS trunk into a more factory looking trunk with room for a P-205 spare tire.

Are you going to trim out the inner rear shelf, and make room for a new more roommer inteior area behind the seats??

That would be AWSOME!
Hi
I am planning to make the mould in such a way that it will fit a beetle pan so the floors will be metal. it is however not to far fetched to include fiberglass floors though.

I have pulled moulds of the engine compartment the rear seat area as well as the fueltank area and it is my plan to build the body this way

I modified some areas slightly in order to make room for a substantial steel subframe which should include a brace for the frame horns
