Do a search. I have one from Wardlow Custom Bras (as does Gerd Kerswell), and I recommend them highly. Ours cover the whole car from almost the front axle centerline forward. It's a 3-piece set-up, so you can open the trunk without having to remove it. They're wonderful folks to work with. Look in my gallery for a picture or two of it installed.

The only other full coverage bra come from Colgan, and is probably a little less expensive, and easier to put on, but iit doesn't fit as tightly (importaant for your paint), and you must partially remove it to get gas.

And finally, Vintage has a partial coverage one that they sell.
esther,
has nothing to do about being a man
im still waiting for gene to post a pic of his ride, he has lots of opinions but does not seem to share pics of what he has. I will say this about gene. He has little or no class based upon his previous posts and his negative comments about other peoples property. I have seen some pretty ugly things done to cars on this site but its my opinion and I keep it to myself. But then I have class.

By the way GENE GO GET OFF

Also esther i dont fire back at girls

Jack go with the bra you wont be dissatisffied and you can always take it off.
Calm down folks.

I put mine on whenever I drive on the freeway around here. This is a shipping port that is also in the midst of a construction boom, and the freeways are brutal. I take it off for nice backroads, and I don't let rain or dirt get under it. In the few months before I got the bra, I got some 20-odd paint chips right down to the fiberglass. Took days to fix. It's great to have the peace of mind now when I drive in on the highway. Went 1600+ miles to/from Carlisle without any damage - and yes, I took it off when I got there.
Jack... enjoy your car, isn't that why you bought it??? my BMW had 3 dings that were mind you not in front but on the side doors caused by flying objects on the road that were kicked by other vehicles next to me on the freeway, so I guess I should have some sort of car cover that will protect my entire car from this ever happening again.... don't think so, Iam a firm believer of enjoying things just the way they were intented to. I felt in love with the Speedster lines and I personally like looking at them with no objects covering them up. ~Esther

We're ALL boys and girls, aren't we? Maybe between twenty and thirty we get to be young men and women, but still . . .

A lot of us are someone's little brother or baby sister no matter how old we are, and if your lucky enough to be Irish, you get to have a "y" at the end of your name from cradle to grave.

Check out Desi's outlaw (Cabanaboy) with the clear-film on front, nearly invisible. I'm not sure of the Mfg or thickness of the film that Desi uses, so check with him. He owns a Window Tint business and deals with this stuff alot.

The clear film, if it suits your needs, seems to provide reasonable protection without altering the look of your car.

Dudes and Dudetts, young and old gather around I have something to share with you. It's called a Manzeir or a Bro I think, anyway the clear shield I install is 6 mill the product is Avery. 3 m has a film but is very diffecult to work with. The clear shield cost more than a Bro but less than a paint repair. Cabanaboy~the peace maker~

That's OK, Gene, but you don't own "The George Brown Speedster".

You just happen to own a car once owned by George Brown, but it stopped being his when you bought it and started to change it. It is now YOUR car and it (and you) will be judged by the changes made to it, tasteful or otherwise.

Jack!: Check out the picture below:

Like Desi's car, this car has had a clear acrylic film on the front of it for the past four years, has somewhere around 10,000 miles on it (the film) with no indications of aging or yellowing or whatever.

As you can see, most of the time it is invisible, but the seams can be seen when the light hits it just right. It suffered a pinhole sized puncture just below a headlight when I was hit by a walnut-sized rock at about 75 mph, but the fiberglass was not hit and there is no "star" crack behind the point of impact (this film is good stuff). The material is 8mil 3M film, and the stuff from BASF is just as good, as long as it is 8 - 10 mil thick. I wouldn't use any film from anyone else - personal choice. Should cost around $500 to do your car (let a professional install it) and it should last 8 - 10 years, plus.

Good luck.......gn

Wow, you guys need to be nicer to each other...your acting like my relatives at our family reunions...lol.

I went to a shop here in Charlotte to see about putting the 3M film ( like the one that I had on my Superformance) on the Speedster. Its got some drawbacks like it yellows over time and you can see the yellowing on a light car, but otherwise its awesome. There was a Ferrari in there when I was at the shop, had the ENTIRE front of the car done in the stuff, sides and all.. no seams and couldnt tell it was even on there. The only reason I didnt get it done was that it was VERY expensive, and even more so on a black car...can't remember why now, but thats cause I am getting old.

Personally, I think that the bra doesn't look great, but it looks better than i would feel with dings all over the car, so I would and will put one on for a long drive.

Lane, wasn't yours custom built or something? Seem to remember reading that somewhere on here.

Good comments---and lots of 'em.

The Speedster's front is all paint---no chrome grill or metal bumber to take the shots from stones thrown up from cars in front of you. It presents a surface just made for getting lots of pits from airborne debris. Around town it's not a problem because of slower vehicles in front but on the highway a Speedster is gonna get whacked a lot more.

I plan to use a bra on road trips but not around town.

Thanks for the good ideas and input!---Jack, Hot Springs
3M is really good stuff, and those whom I know with it on their cars (mostly Street Rods and a few Lexus) haven't noticed any yellowing with age (oldest that I know of is 7 years). Can't say the same for some of the other film manufacturers out there.

Several Rods I've seen lately have the BASF stuff (which is licensed from 3M, I've heard) and they like that as well.

Getting it professionally applied to a Speedster should cost somewhere between $450 and $600, depending on who does it and whether they have the film pre-cut to a template (usually laser or plotter cut). My guy didn't have a pre-cut, so he just used a stock piece of material, 30" high by 6' across and applied it to the nose, with another, separate piece for the hood.

Sorry if I sounded grumpy up above.....I tried to happy it up as much as I could ;>)

Oh Oh.. I remember why it was more expensive.. cause they said I had to get the paint PERFECT before I put it on (meaning not even any minimal swirls in the paint) as when they put this stuff on it shows that stuff off and its sealed under there so its hard to fix anything afterwards. They said it would probably just require a clay bar'ing but weren't sure. I guess the dark cars just require more prep than light cars.

As far as yellowing, I had the 3M stuff on my Superformance and noticed a little yellowing, but that was over the stripe and it was as White as you can get, so it was much easier to notice the difference. Its great stuff and took a beating...

You weren't that grumpy, and my guess is that Gene can take it...

James
