I bough this auto Classico's #23 project speedster out of Texas in June. Chassis was done to the hilt powder coated, 4 wheel discs, adjustable spring arm plates, etc. I've shaved the dash hump even, filled the tail light holes, shaved door handles. Has functional quarter panel intakes that will serve as cooling and carb intake ducts, tear drop LED tail lights, steel light gray gauge set, Ford GT 40 chrome paddle toggle switches.
Just painted 2009 Porsche guards urethane red this morning. Will get a fresh balanced 1776 cc with baby webers. 3:88 tranny, Kennedy cutch set, custom polished wheels. Will be done in time for Carlsile. Updates to follow. ~Alan

Flat surface mount tear drop LED tail lights, same as I used on Syl's Candy.

Nice Alan. Great shine, is the paint cleared?
A four coat process, the top color coat has 50% clear in it, will be color sanded, buffed and hand glazed.
Looking Great!
nice work Alan. When it comes time... I have to get with your paint guy. Great looking work.

Paul, I know you looked at my car, and I can vouch for Randy. He did a real nice job cleaning up all the spider-cracks from my accident damage. Very good price too. He was done in three weeks! It was his first Spyder, but I know he has done quite a few Speedsters.
And thanks to Alan again for laying out the darts on that crooked rear clip(all Spyders are asymetric). I don't know how he did it, but they look straight!
Don't be afraid to vary from silver, red, or black.
BTW Alan, paint looks good!

Bill - GREAT shot of your car in the driveway!!

Thanks Jim!
I only wish the driveway looked like that right now. Red Sled is tucked away in a hangar for winter, midway through a carb upgrade (thanks to Dr Clock).

A short update, the speedster got repainted, my finiky body guy wasn't happy with it after a detailed color sanding and buff. Now that's a good body / paint guy.
Trailed it back to my shop last night and the build fun begins bright and early tomorrow AM.
UGH just 15 weeks to get this together for Carlisle.
Let me know if you would like updates here on this build. ~Alan

....will do ~
i'd love updates too!
Somehow, after a long week out on the roads, I woke up at 4:30AM today and in the shop by 6:00.
Fit the gauges, dash switches dash main power disconnect (keyless)and starter button. Welded in the frame horn heat tubes for better heat. new heat cable tubes, loose fit the fuel tank, two 6 gang fuse blocks are in, installed a small Oddessy gel battery under the rear seat area, battery cut off switch and cables ran today.

Al, how do you access the battery?
Auto Classico's speedster, aka "Taco Hell" .
There is a molded area under the seat measures 2.5 x 7 x 11", the small gel battery can be in any position but inverted, not cheap at $125.... Bill, in the shop most of tomorrow, take trip south and have a couple of brews

Could be in the cards, Al. Other 1/2 will be at a hen party!
I'll give a shout.

I gotta know, what color red is that?
Ask the body and paint guy if you have to, I just HAVE know what car it originally came on or who makes it.
It would be PERFECT on my little Fiat 600, don't you think ? ! ? ! ?

TC you're way too excited, reread the first post and ye shall know.
Porsche made three different Guards Red, this one is from a 2009 and it pops indoors or in sunlight.

Thanks ! !
I usually AM just an excitable boy . . . .
Last year a pretty nice Cobra copy was at one of the big cruise nights, I asked the owner what color red it was, and he answered that it was red. The original red that all other reds were built off of. Base red I guess. It was nice, but it lacked something that yours has, probably a smidge of yellow or blue tint to kick it.
Regardless, that's a super sweet color; I think that you've solved my "What color should my Fiat be?" dilemma for me.
