Tom,

I have the car listed for $18,000 and received two offers of $17,000 from an ad placed on kitcars.com. The 17 number is fine with me but for either of the offers two fly, shipping arrangements need to be completed, until such time the car is fair game.

As for your logistics situation, I would be happy to meet you halfway with the car. I believe you are about 5 or 6 hours south of me. I could put the car on a trailer and haul it down or even drive her down to you, That would be your call. If you have any more questions, let me know.

Best Regards,
Chris
Mike,

I have had about 3200 views on my ad in one week. Four people phoned, and about 6 or 7 tire kickers emailed me. Two made acceptable offers. All things considered I can say this: Good place to promote a car? Yes. Good place to promote to serious buyers, with cash? The jury is still out.

My advice, drop the forty or so bucks for an ad and see how it works for you. In the end there will always be a good buyer for a good car no matter where you have it listed. When the time comes to sell, I wish you good luck!

I decided to sell my beloved Speedster. I am finishing up my Masters this summer and cramming 4 hellish classes into 12 weeks, from there I am transferring to the Big Apple come fall. That said, I do not think the Speedster will get much exercise hence forth.

Hopefully someone from the board will want to carry on my passion for this car. Photos are posted in the files section under cs77.

Overall the car shows and performs as a 10. It has been given a ton of time and money to make it a true dream. The motor is a new 1776, it has fwd brakes, 4spd manual, and a lot of other great features.

If anyone is interested please contact me at (609) 410-4782, or via minxdonzi@hotmail.com. I hate to do this but I figure someone can reap the joy better then I can at this time.

Just as another point of reference (but NOT specifically for a Speedster) - I placed an ad for my wife's original Austin Healey 3000 in Hemming's Motor News for about the same price - $40. That gets you 3 or 4 lines with no picture (I emailed pics if you contacted me).

We got about 20 - 25 calls in two months, and the first person who actually saw the car bought it. (BTW: He drove all the way to Rhode Island from central Florida!!) It was sold in the first month and we kept getting calls for another month. Three people were ready to hop on planes that night, but it was already sold.

If Kitcar.com doesn't work out, try Hemmings (they have a kitcar section).
Chris, Where is the car? Your profile says Phila., PA but the 609 area code is south NJ. I'm in NJ also -- Spring Lake. I'd like to take a look at the car - If it is still seriously available. By the way, the profile says builder "unknown" (but that is the only choice left if it is not one of the builders listed on the drop-down menu) -- do you know who the builder was?
Bruce,
I was planning on going, but not bringing the car. I was going to fly in to the nearest private air park and just take a cab to the meet. I figure 30-40 minutes in the air beats 3-4 hours in the car. But, I may re-think that plan in light of your message. It never dawned on me that anyone would be interested in seeing my car. I guess that's what makes it a meet -- right? If I can still get a room near by, I may take the long slow way out. Thanks for the inspiration.
The show would be a great time I know, but for May and June I am stuck with 5 days of work and 6 days of Classes, so Sundays will have me playing catch up. ( I still did not say no, I just have to wait and see)

I am however going to show my car in the MT. Holly, NJ Car Show. It is expected to be about 200 cars, mostly American but the show is always is fun. I know there will be one other Speedster and maybe a couple of Spyders. Anyone near buy should check it out.
