Vince, if you have followed this site for any length of time, and looked at the photo gallery, you will see that the speedster enthusiast has one basic piece of clothing......check the photos and you will universally notice that we all have a serious collection of hawaiian shirts. If your not ready for a luau, your not ready for life, get with it dude!

Go to the 50th anniversary site and look up their gear. They have all that you request with the 50th logo.... Nice denim varsity style jacket.

Check a thread here for a new order of a member produced shirt. I like this one.

I happen to like the 356 front logo with car on back shirts available here!

Check on e-bay... there is some cat always selling a nice simple speedster shirt... he varies the words on them... currently says "German Quaility" with a small speedster (true style not comic) on the front right, and a larger depiction of a speedster on the back. Mine had a Porsche style shield in blue with Classic Speedster on the front pocket, then on back a blue outline of a Speedster in detal from a right front quarter view..... Very nice and only 15 bucks.

Look on my file. I am wearing a ball cap with a speedster on it, They came in khaki, OD Green, and sand with 5 stitched colors of Speedsters with either Fuchs or Moons.... extra for Speedster font stitched below the car. I bought 3 at 20 per. Don't get black...... the car is lost in the tires and wheels.. The silver looks great and so thats what I ordered on 2 caps. Found on E-Bay.... He may or may not be on now... but I think I can track him through the sales in my ebay history if anyone is interested! I'll take shots and post if anyone would like to see 2 of them.. Great soft cotton caps with a nice adjustable hidden band. longer bill.

The foremost Hawaiian shirt designer, Reil Spooner (hope that's right?) put out a limited run of Speedster 356 shirts a few years back. They are rare finds and one of the few articles of clothing I would consider buying at auction used. To find a new one would be primo! I first saw one sitting in a local Porsche shop/hangout in an older Real Source (Tweeks) Catalog.... I jumped up to dial them via cell phone when I realized I was looking at a 2 year old rag! I called anyway and they laughed their ashes off at me, asked me to call if I found one! The Holy Grail of Speedster Attire!

Yep, that's the shirt John! I think it was set up like a Hawaiian Drive-In Theater with buses, bugs and speeders! Seems like it came in 2 or 3 darker colers like Navy, Black, and possibly a dark red. If anyone has an old Real Source Catalog from around 98-99-maybe in 00, or very early 01 they should look and see if the ad is in there and scan and post for us. I am like you John, driven... I WILL OWN ONE (said in a Chris Farley Coach's Tone), You are much better seated locale and contact wise than me, so if you find one, snatch 2 if available and pay the price... I will pay whatever, XL! I'll do the same.

Liked your post about a nice day, with the car rags in the box... kindred souls in that dept! My blushing bride and I took an after dinner cruise to a nice lake 20-30 miles away this evening... temps had been in the 99 plus and several week long strings in the 100s since early July with NO rain at all in 11 weeks. Got a nice soaker this week, and now the temps are in the 80s with nights cooling nicely into the high 60s. Sunset tonight was in the high 70s, and there we were.... her hair tied back, nice clear sunset, cruising at 3000-3200 RPMs, car tight and right, no hangover stress from the day.... Had some wine on a picnic table and just relaxed... velvet John, velvet. These are the days, eh?

WOW!!!!
Didn't really expect all the replys so quickly...
I am new to this site and also as a speedster owner...
I have been a Mopar guy from the 50's and also an
old chopper dude, so please excuse my awkwardness....
I do own a bunch of Hawaiian shirts, so thanks for
the tip....how do I view the Gallery? don't seem to
see a tab for that anywhere on this site....
I am also not a computer nerd, so I need to be told
exactly how to find everything....
Vince,
One of the members here (Ed Janis) sells the Speedster Designs shirts. He is always open to having a new design made if we get enough members interested in it to cover the cost. If there is some design in particular that you are looking for, maybe the rest of us would be into it as well.

As far as being a new member, we all were once. It's a pretty tight knit group, we get on each others nerves from time to time. But then we make up with a group hug. (*GROUP HUG*)

The Reyn Spooner Hawaiian shirt with VW Buses, Beetles and 356 Speeders (must be Replicas, right?) is indeed a rare item.
I have searched far and wide - even contacted Mr. Spooner directly (he was amused) - but have not yet located one.Like all Spooner-designed shirts, they were produced for a limited time (about a year, I believe) and then no more.
Eventually, I'll find one.

Yes, Jim, if I ever come upon a few of the Reyn Spooner shirts in a thrift shop or vintage clothing store out here in Tinsel Town, I will buy them all with my bretheren in mind.
Your after-dinner drive sounds perfect. We're ready for a weather change and they're predicting a cooldown into the 80s for this weekend...whew! It's been almost too hot to be Speedstering for about eight weeks in a row! Notice I said - almost.
But next weekend is the huge German Auto Fest in Ventura (on the ocean). I'll take the digital for show-and-tell.

How about a Model T pickup and so much crude splashed all over you that what you are wearing could be designer labels or K-Mart blue light specials. Go JeTexas! Run your oil cooler through your britches. Yeeeee-ha!
BTW George, what brand of scooter was that? It looked like a Salisbury to me.
