I don't mind spending on nice reproduction pieces. But seriously - $560 for a set of 14 replica knobs for my replica speedster?

Plastic knobs? Really?

Anyone know of a China alternative or something a bit more affordable?

Thanks

Very cool man. Thanks!

The knobs are a fraction of price ($5 each) and look good enough for me.

I just filled up my cart with goodies ($75) - but upon checkout see that they only have a flat rate shipping (international) of $149.. (for knobs! - ha).. so there goes that idea.

For instance - my shifter set cost $30 shipping, bluetooth radio ($28), and a hell of a lot of stuff from Sierra under $50.. so - not sure where they're coming from with $149.

Anyway, the quest continues..

I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but billet dash knobs on a Speedster just screams:

“I’M A REPLICA!! “

Personally, I’m ambivalent to whether someone uses all VW-style knobs (Same shape as the silver knobs just above) or the Porsche-style Mushroom jobbies, but neither ones should be billet silver.  No,  No,  No.......

I happen to have VW style stuff for a simple reason over the Porsche style:  I like them!

@Carlos,  We had a client request all mahogany knobs for her roadster and I sent a knob set to Everett Every (forum member who custom makes shift knobs for me) and he duplicated them all, including door buffers, to match her shift knob and steering wheel.  It wasn't;t cheap, as expected with one off items, but they looked great.

@IAM Ray, just not enough time in the day.  i actually removed over 50% of the parts on our website because we didn't have the time to, not only support parts sales,  but to explain the differences between all of the parts used by various manufacturers.  Those that don't know, expect that "part X" will fit any speedster replica built from the 1970s to today...

I have spent stupid money on my Speedster but if I ever spend almost $600 on knobs someone please shoot me.

They aren't even attractive IMHO.

Worse than billet knobs to me are those reproduction instruments with black faces.  (no jokes, pls).

IMG_20170507_205932523_HDRIMG_20170917_193953451_HDRI guess I'm guilty of Gordon's worst sin. I got my billet knobs at cip1.com. They are threaded, no set screws. I believe they look more "right" than plastic, but to each their own I say. Everything on my car is metal, except the car itself! Steel, aluminum, silver hammertone paint, etc. The aforementioned knobs sit on the white dash with OE Porsche keyswitch with aluminum bezel and aluminum start button. Turn signal knob w/dimmer switch in the end: aluminum and stainless(oh yeah, and handcrafted, by me). Billet steering hub: Carey Hines. Original style e-brake: Jim Dubois(handmade) powdercoat silver. Still need to install my aluminum shifter lever by Carey Hines.

Bottom line, white plastic would look crappy in my white Spyder, but that's just me. Besides, Michelle polishes my aluminum knobs for me. Who would say no to that?IMG_20170507_205757163

If you really want white knobs, you could buy those cheesy billet aluminum ones, pay a machinist to cut them to OE P-car size, then powdercoat. It would be a bargain even if you farmed out the machining and powdercoating to professionals compared to that insane $500-600 price!

I think Marty(or is it Lane?)has a powdercoated shift knob.
