Speedster drag car body? | 356 Speedster, 550 Spyder, Replica, Automotive Community

I wasn't sure where to place this because it's both a plee for parts AND an need for opinions as to "what you think?" and a little "look what I just got" kind of post. SO . . . I stuck it here.

I just scored a two seater tube frame sand rail as the basis for the new drag car. It came with a Ranger GT sports car body which I was hoping to use for this season, anyway. This body was made locally in Massachusetts and I guess that only 10 or 12 were manufactured. Ranger made dune buggy bodies on the whole.

For next year I was thinking that it would be more fun, cooler, neater, closer to my heart, and have a greater crowd appeal if I ran a Speedster body. I've heard that the Moser(sp) Speedster bodies are no longer being made because of the molds being destroyed or lost. What I want to do is "stitch" a Speedster body together out of broken pieces. Fitting with the Team Evil moniker, we're cookin' it up "Frankin-style" even using metal strap "stitches" on the top side with fiberglass reinforcement beneath.

So, here's the pitch . . . does anyone have any totally shattered fiberglass Speedster body bits and pieces for sale? Anything at all. Whole or half, cracked or crap. If it's too big to ship, just break it into smaller bits to fit into a box.

Please let me know, I have some wide flares coming and I can make some quick castings off of my own car to fill in the gaps in the body pieces, 'cept I need a bunch of broken body parts to start building this monster's body.

Any help? Please let me know . . .

TC; I recall some time ago such a Speedster body being offered unused in California for $600.00. I recall it was long, sort of like a funny car. I saw it in The Samba classifieds.

There is a speedster body without doors or lids on ebay. looks rough. Should go cheap. do a search for (356,speedster) on ebaymotors.
