In the engine area I have sound deadening in it which is a foam that IM installed years ago. It is starting to deteriorate and particles of foam are going everywhere. Is there any engine area cover ideas that would work to cover it up.

This is one of those situations where we're going to need an image.
Time to pull the motor and redo it.
I am looking at doing something on the firewall as well mainly to reduce engine noise traveling through the firewall into the cabin. My VS did not come with anything attached to the firewall.
I have been considering Dynamat's Hoodliner product, as it appears to be made for this type of an application. I bet you wouldn't need to pull the engine to install it. Check it out. I don't know how much heat or noise insulation that foam was doing, and this seems like a product that may both. Though I am sure there are many more suitable products out there.

I was hoping to get some sort of fireproof cloth that could be used over whats on it right now. Maybe something that could be sewed in a diamond pattern.
My IM has a foam/rubber sheet with one side an aluminum covered which is the side that faces the engine. I can't see a name on it but it looks like 1/2 inch thick like in your picture.
Since you have a real IM you could email them and they should be able to supply it for you or tell you where to get it. Send them your IM serial no.
Dynamat makes a 1/2 inch thick unit for the engine area ... just saying
How does it look IAM-RAY?
