I wondered the same thing Vince; until I checked the photos in his folder. This car is beautifully done to replicate as close as possible a real 356; including original 356 steering wheel and exquisite engine detailing including Zenith (?) air cleaners on the Kadrons, large nut on the generator, original 356 breather box, Fram canister oil filter, Blaupunkt radio and the list goes on. Check it out; it's just perfect!
It may look "real" but it is still a Vintage reproduction, and since when is 18K miles not that big a deal.......on an 03 speedster, I'd say that car has been pretty active......
Don't take this the wrong way, it's a way cool looking car, And I commend anyone who gets out their and drives these little buggers,
I also know how everyone here likes to mentally masterbate each other, saying what great cars they have and all that, but a steering wheel? give me a break.....
Vince,
I'm still trying to figure out how to get my right hand around my mind?

Frankly I'm always blown away at how much these cars go for new, used or whatever. For what it is you're really not getting much for your money, all you're really paying for is the style. I feel fortunate to have gotten mine for $8500 and have done most of the work on the cheap with a lot of help from my friend (mechanic) and the help from this site and the people on it. I was at one time seriously considering buying new but after having one I don't think I could ever justify paying the money for any of these cars as a turnkey, (maybe the coupe), but that's just me and my income. There are a lot of cars out there in the price range that are probably a better investment but who's to say? Cars, and the reasons we have them are all very personal. I still think that Speedster is one of the sweeter ones I've seen for that kind of money though.
Mick, can I call you that? I'm a ball buster, I like to stir the pot,
most of the time I'm serious, but with a twist.....
If I was in the Market for a speester (I actually would love another one) and had around 23.500 large to spend, would I look at a car with 18K miles on it, or would I look at a brand new one with no miles....I don't know, maybe it's just me...

Jeff, I hope you get your price, you obviously went through a lot of trouble to make your car as authentic as possible, and it is a looker as most of them are....We all want to see the prices rise..

Base price for a VS turnkey is $21500. Upgrade and engine to 1915cc, and transmission to 3.88, tonneau cover, front disc brakes, dual carbs, trunk carpet, metallic paint ... you're looking at around $25,000. The good thing is that it will be exactly what you wanted. I figure mine would have been close to $27,000 with the AC, so picking it up used for $18,000 was a hell of a deal.
