I have a vintage speedster for sale in long beach CA. It is dark green with tan interior. The eng is a 1915 with verly low miles (one summers worth of driving). The trans has the same amount of miles, and is a freway flyer ( high ration 4th gear with welded gears). The car is older the the eng.and trans, but looks good. There are some chips in the paint, but it is still very glossy. It has new carpet and the seats have been redone. It has chrome rims with porshe nipple hubcaps. Dual carbs, chrome engine tin, bra, custom muffler, adjustable front end, empi steering wheel, gene berg shifter, If there is anything else you need to know, please e-mail me shaneandsurf@yahoo.com or call (562) 756-5338. I like the car, but I have five cars now and I am trying to downsize. I sent the car into vintage speedsters shop to get a clean bill of health so you know that it is OK. I will have pix soon.

I don't know what year the car was built because I bought it used. Kurt ant VS just tuned it up, said it is a really soild car. The trans went bad a few weeks after I bought it, and the guy before me replaced the eng. With a 1915cc. I measured the bore and stroke to confirm. I replaced the trans. with a Freeway flyer (high ratio 4th gear, so I keeps up with traffic on the freeway with no problem. The seats were refinished in tan vinyl by VS in 2004 by VS, and the windshield was replaced at the same time.
Why is it Kirk at VS who made this car can not tell us when it was made? Why doesn't someone keep track of VIN numbers in some sort of registry. This would sure make valuing a "vintage speedster" a little easier. For example a 2005 Boxster is more valuable than a 2001 even though it is vbasically the same car. I was just about to order one like this so I am eager to see the pics. How far is Long Beach from Vintage Speedsters? If I make a trip out there I would like to see this car and visit the "factory".
VS is in Hawaiian Gardens, which I understand is LA area. They don't keep a register since they spit them out as fast as they can; they're a volume business but you're right in the sense that with today's advancement in computer technology it wouldn't be that hard to set up a computerized registry of their cars.
OK, I have seen the Car.. Shane was nice enough to meet me on Tuesday afternoon. The motor is in good shape he just finished rebuilding the carbs and had VS change the alternator pully. there is a little hang-up on the linkage that Shane is fixing as we speak here... The compartment is very clean and he has done a nice job on it. He has a couple of Nerf bumbers that are at the rear of the car, no front bumper. He has two bumpers that you can get painted and put on yourself, as well as two tops tan (On the car OK shape) and a black top that is not currently on the car. The front end is pretty pegged with chip-outs and the right front fender is cracked at several spots along the edge. The over all paint is good, never seen a dark green car with tan interior. the seats are sweet, VS just re-did them and the wind shield. He fired it up and it sounded very strong. It has a sweet tranny too. Nice tires and chrome nipple hub caps too. No radio, but has speakers wired in. I will not tell you what price he quoted me because that would not be fair to Shane... Good Luck folks..

Shane sent me several emails. I hope I did not offend but 15K was too much for the car. There was that other speedster listed on this forum. It was a 2001 for 16K. It looked perfect. Shanes had problems and We never saw any pics. He couldn't tell us what year it was. No leather, no radio and no real answers to major questions. I guess he picked up his toys and went to play elsewhere. If I am going to drop 15K I want some of my questions answered. Not unreasonable don't you think?
