All courtesy of AAA and my 5 miles of free towing. Looks like a busted clutch cable. Used to drive my Type I without the assistance of a clutch, but didn't want to try it in the speedster. I hope the fix is quick. I don't have time to do the repair myself. Even with seat heaters the Iowa driving season is slipping though my fingers.

Frank (and everyone in a snowbelt)

As I recall Spring sputtered into existence within a four or five day period this year. All of a sudden the piled up snow was gone and we were basking in 50 degree temperatures....Well, after the leaves fall, Winter can hit us just as quickly...so prepare a 'hibernation check list' so you're not caught flat footed and shivering.

That's what I'm doing.

Oh...and a check list for the speedster also!

David not sure I have a good explanation other than it just felt different from my old 59 type 1. My rancho tranny feels much tighter and is a little more finicky. I got it started and tried to ease it into gear without the clutch and --fail. Rather than keep beating the car up I called AAA. Anyone else have mad clutch-less skills that would like to share?

Beautiful day for a ride today. The speedster is at the shop...bummer.
