For the Speedster replica, a budget build is available. Buy this (for $35 or so) and section out about 5 inches behind the barrel. Weld it nice, shorten the button linkage by a like amount and re-thread the top to fit that all-important stainless steel release button. Drill a couple holes in it too if it makes you happy.

Then assemble it using the original Bug pawl and ratchet (they are thicker and won't rattle 'round inside the housing). Then add something like this for another $15 and you're out the door for under $60 & an afternoon's work.

Looks cool, works good.

That's a good pic of that handbrake, Greg, I hadn't seen that one before. Too bad he didn't drill any holes in the gear plate as well. They're heavy, but they're also hardened, so they'd be hard on drill bits. Maybe I've answered my own question...

"Our Spyder handbrake, TIG welded and zinc plated, is $500 plus ship."

No link (or even a pic)? You're missing an opportunity here!

I take form of payments in diamonds, kidneys, Columbian bam bam, or AMEX

Reason why its so $$$$ is because its CAD engineered, laser cut, stainless steel, stainless hardware.... lifetime warranty. Not no junk powder coat, spray paint, zinc, China junk. TIG welded, all made here in the US. You guys are funny. Send me an email and we give generous discounts on these shipped to all Speedster Owners and SpyderClub members. Being that they are stainless, they can be polished out, won't ever rust.

I got tired of all the other ones on the market we used breaking. It was embarrassing.. so I came up with the solution, engineer a new one that works 10x better than the original.

Send me an email: daniel@seductionmotorsports.com just mention your user name.
