Doug, take a look at the locked thread "insurance" under the "Newbies" section. Also try the search function with the key word "insurance."

Personally, I used Hagerty for my Speedster, but their prices were too high for my Cabriolet. The reason given for the higher rate (almost double) by the representative when I inquired was because it was to be registered as year of manufacturer (2004). I am currently using State Farm and am happy with their coverage and rate.
Good luck.

I too have had issues getting insurance for a decent rate. I tried to go with State Farm who I have been with since I was 18 and thought it would make my life easier, but they wanted $1100 a year in the Dallas Metro-plex. So I just mailed a check to American Collectors Insurance. (link below) They quoted me $185.00 a year for $25,000 coverage. I do have a feeling that I will go over the 2500 mile limit, but at least their stipulations were not as strongly written as Parish and a few others
Doug, I did not go with Hagerty for the Cabrio. The car is registered as a 2004 "Specially Constructed" and the premium is comparable to a normal car of the same value and with the same policy limits. Also, by going with S/F, I was able to include the car under my umbrella without that nasty surcharge just mentioned. I do have a 7,500 mile limit but that is plenty and if I was willing to cough up a little more, I could have unlimited miles.

This may not be the cheapest way to go, but I confidence in the carrier and the agent is a stand up gal.

ps. $546.60 / year
I have Parish for my race car (storage and trailering)$18,000 coverage for $280 and on my 84 Mustang $8000 for $250 no deductible but a 3000 mile limit and can't drive it to work. When I got a quote for my speedster they wanted $500 for $20,000 coverage because it has to be registered as a 2006 when it's complete. Hagerty wouldn't touch me because I have a teenager in the house. Grundy quoted $315 with unlimited mileage.
I have had excellent luck with both State Farm and with AAA. I ALL cases, keep in mind, it is not so much the company as it is the agent you deal with. State Farm can be black or white depending who you talk to. You'll probably want to go with "stated value". Spend some time to find a good agent. Don't write off a company just because one agent is a Dick. Call another branch office. Most of your insurance cost will be Liability anyway, and that doesn't vary much between my truck, my motorcycle and my speedster.

AAA currently has me insured as a 1971 (year of the pan) Porsche speedster. Ever heard of one of those????
