I saw that on ebay. Didn't think it was Alan's
NOT Mine
Look like a good "parts" car Alan. Might be worth it for the wheels/hub caps?
Tried to buy it a few months back but the seller thinks it's gold bullion, the sad thing is that someone will in the passion of the moment, pay dearly... not be able to do most of the work and will be writing checks being into it way over their head ~
I have to say I admire you for what you do to these cars. You've got desire that is long gone for me. Give me a used speedster that just needs the wipers replaced and mirrors polished. I enjoy tinkering, but not full blown castration.
What's your next project?
Just beginning a full build, a classic speedster for Paul and complete that mid February then one more spot before Carlisle and then I'll call it done and re - retire again.
..........….Give me your tired, your poor, Your scuttled masses of fiberglass yearning to breathe free air, Wrenches caress your soon to be gleaming body. Send these, the garageless, parts tossed, to me. I lift my shop door to build, to restore .............
And I'm thee luckiest and honored recipient of the Master's hands of that classic speedster build !!
It's like Christmas, Thanksgiving, my birthday and ever holiday rolled into one... I can't wait

Woof. Gold bullion? No. That's one beat up scrap of a Speedster.
Hopefully whomever bids on it comes to their senses before they lose their shirt.
George can fix it...and make it better!

And he'll build a 1776 that will put all our 2 liter + engines to shame, 'cause none of us knows sh*t...

That's right you don't. If you had listened just one bit to George you'd most likely be a record holding drag racer now. But instead you chose to mock and to scorn him into leaving here. Now we have no one to turn to. Absolutely no one and it is largely your fault Al.
Thanks Al
George was going to built me a 1300cc single port than could outrun any 2110 out there.
Luckily, I still have Bernie Bergman's phone number.

What I don't understand is even if you could do the work yourself (other than the satisfaction of same!) you'd be into it for 24-26K when you can buy a well sorted one in the same snack bracket....but i guess you have the chance of getting it exactly as you want in the former scenario.....
First time buyers think a project is a bargain that will needs a few tings and down the road they'll go. They don't do the homework, mots are not mechanical and have little idea how to do the work, so they start writing checks and get in way over their head.

Bingo!
It's up to $8,200..someone is going to fall into a very big hole......
Me thinks we'll see it all dressed up and ready for the prom listed on the Beverly Hills Motorcars... your Speedster and Spider specialist website.
At least I hope it's those clowns and not some other unsuspecting rube.
George paid $12k for his and fiberglass was hacked up for a racing role cage. I "know" a guy that bought brand new CMC kit (sans VW donor vehicle) back in late 1988 for $7995 plus $1400 shipping. What's that in 2016 $? (Answer $19,200). This seems like better deal than either of those poor suckers got. I'm just saying.
By that logic, the 15k I paid for mine back in... 2014(?) seems like a good deal.
Now... I think I've put another... 8 or so into it. (eek!) I haz the madness.
OH Ted, that's the number you give your wife.
