I noticed the top mechanism is more elaborate than on most of our cars.

I also noticed that his wife told him to get rid of it.  I was once told "me or the car" by my then wife.  I think I made the wrong choice.

TOP GEAR had a show where the car was being built in the living room and then could not fit through the door.  The wife did fit through the door and she left

I once read a book written by Paul Newman and he mentioned that, as a prank and since his prankee was not a "car guy", he had a Porsche 911 dis-assembled and brought out to Robert Redford's house in Vail or Aspen or someplace like that, then they re-assembled it in Redford's living room, piece by piece so they could fit it all through the door.  I have no idea how Redford ever got it out of there........

Would have paid to see Redford's face when he walked in, though.

I had a buddy in Suffolk, Va ( Folis Jones  RIP , of Folis Jones Racing ) that raced with Paul Newman in later years. Apparently Paul had quite the sense of humour. Redford's place may have been in Park City, Utah. He's done quite a bit of philanthropic work there.

Paul Newman was good people, by all accounts.

Paul Newman was filming a movie in Ottawa, Canada years ago in Rockcliffe Park near the home of IM Ray. My Brother Doug was an amateur photog back then and spotted Newman getting into a Limo and asked for a photo. Newman said he had no time for that. Doug looked at him and said " What we have here is a failure to communicate". Newman got it....laughed and let Doug take a few photos, one with him. A quick research shows that the movie might have been Mr. and Mrs. Bridge. 1990.

Coincidentally, I was all over the internet regarding Paul Newman for the last few days researching him and you post one of his films... Interesting.  Yes we do have filming happening every once in a while in this old section of town.

Speaking of neighbourhoods I made it to the country roads of North Gower today and even stopped in at a local pub.  Nice area.   David.

That would be the Marlborough Pub, Ray. Yes we should, Bob. It's a nice drive out to Merrickville too.
