I'm looking for a radio to mount under the dash.
Also need the face plate, or mounting bracket.

Check out Retrosound 1960 ish Porsche model it has a cat-eye face plate which is also nice.
My car came with a Hurst shifter which is tall and seems it
would be too close to the radio. Are you guys using a shortened
shifter?
Who needs a frickin' radio. That's music enough coming out the pipe in the back. And who could hear a radio in a Speedster anyway? That said, I do indeed have a radio, mounted out of the way under the dash, and it's very nice. Best played when the car is parked and engine off. Truth be told: rarely used.
You are right about hearing the damn thing. I am just stuck
on spending money on this car. I hope it stops soon, so my wife
doesn't find out. By the way, where did you hide the antenna?
Well if you can you can add a SUBWOOFER model 8100 self powered from Retrosound it really adds to the colour of the sound but this presupposes you have their 4 channel amp and a good speaker system.
Otherwise at 70mph it does get a tad hard to hear but the above system I have in my car and I have a hearing loss so I where two hearing aids (high frequency loss) and it is manageable.
Positioning the sub under the front dash helps even more with hearing it.
If you provide enough power with separate midrange speakers and tweeters, a very high power amp in the truck, under dash powered subwoofer, you can generate sufficient sound pressure for distortion free audio up to about 70mph with the top down. The best sound I have found is from a directed connected iPhone playing only music downloaded to the iPhone. Bluetooth audio is only good for phone calls. Like wise network connected audio is poor. Once you jump to the airwaves there is a loss of high frequencies and an increase in THD.
James Dean would have had tunes.

I think so too!!
Thanks sounds completely feasible. Will all the extra weight slow me down?
Slow you down for sure

I have a 1x10" sub-woofer, 2x6" mid-ranges speakers, and 2x1" tweeters powered by a 500 watt amplifier. I can hear my tunes at any speed. As far as the weight slowing you down, nope, I've had the car to 100 mph without any issues. My personal weight is what slows me down.
It all depends if you play a lot of HEAVY bass.
I had a radio and speakers under the dash and the antenna was in the frunk along the passenger side.
I took the whole mess out because I couldn't hear it at any speed , and it competed with the music from the engine. Never missed it .
Copy that Al. As to my antenna, believe it is just a wire under there with the radio unit. Certainly, there is nothing external. all this four channel surround sound, zillion watt sub woofer nonsense is just crazy. But whoever said the madness needed to make sense??
And FWIW, I can sorta hear the radio/CD player with the top up at highway speed. But it is not truly an audiophile experience with all that background. Just sayin'. Now, if you are parked along the way, enjoying a picnic, or a nice vista with your sweetie, and a few romantic (or other) tunes in the background will enhance your experience, then that seems like it would work just fine.
Part of any madness involves the fringes of insanity. I started my career in the HiFI business out of College. I have always had a bit of an Audiophile DNA in my blood because of my musician background. Some sort of State of Art sound system was always installed in my cars, even when that meant 4 speakers and a separate cassette deck, no amps or subs. If you want to see insanity at it's finest go to one of these small car audio stores. They have to run extra batteries and high amp alternators. The cars are almost entirely speakers and multiple 15 inch subs. I am sure you have all heard one. Amazing.
As to the antenna, what is that?
