Gary,

I don't know where you live but maybe the best thing you could do is plan on attending the Speedster owners .com event as part of the annual Knotts Berry Farm kit and replicar show in Buena Park, Ca on April 24-25 of 04. There will be every make represented as well as several of the owners of the leading companies. You can look at each manufacturers product and ask tons of questions about our obcessions. This will be our first attempt of our group coming together for a regional event. We will all be positioned in the same area so viewing and BSing will be a can't miss event.

The East coast contingent is doing the same thing in May in Carlisle, PA at the National Kit Car and Replicar show. Same deal there, should be samples of each manufacture there. Look at the "Events" topic on the forum for more info. We will be posting more complete info early in 04. We are getting lots of interest for the events.

Hope to see you at Knotts, Bruce
Gary, the reason nobody wants to answer your simple question with a simple company "A" is the best and then company "B" is because it really isn't that simple. Different car manufacturers provide different versions of the car. I think, as with most things, you do get what you pay for, but the real question is what do you need and want your car to be. After much research I have come to the conclusion that for a speedster the options are pretty much limited to Vintage, Intermeccanica, JPS, Specialty Autoworks, and Beck. Do a forum search and look at only the vendor category to get started and you will quickly see the differences. The prices vary among the builders, but so to does the cost and quality.....it really comes down to what it is worth to you to have the different options on your car......for sure the Knotts show in April will allow you to look at all of the major players....but, read the old forum threads to educate yourself......I realized only after asking some very dumb questions how valuable the forum search can be.....good luck
Now Steven, you know the only "dumb" questions are the ones that do not get asked. BTW, I don't know if SAW will be present at Knotts or not. I don't think Steve Lawing intends to be there, so unless one of his customers is in a position to go, this replica will not be represented.
Maybe Carlisle??? Tick tick tick tick.

John,

A thought on SAW being represented at Knotts. You are right, it might be a long distance for him to come but we are planning on having a Speedster owners tent/awning. We'll use this as meet central. SAW might think about printing up some info sheets or brochures for distribution at the meet, just a thought. Either SAW or youself can contact me for shipping instructions and we will be sure to get them out for distribution.

Bruce
Doug,

Yes, there will be some Spyders there hopefully. We have invited them
via this web site plus their own. I have talked to one of the Spyder guys and he indicates there are 10 that he knows of in the SoCal area. Our logo is giving equal space to both Speessters and Spyders! It will be good to have them join us, they are just great looking cars and their link with history is just as interesting as the Speedster.

See you in late April, Bruce
