Speedster replica on Ebay??

Hello Guys,

I am new to this great sit and am looking for some assistance with this car which is owned by a forum member:

It is a 1979 Intermeccanica Speedster with 69k miles and seems to be in nice shape. What is a fair value for this car and what is the quality of a 1979 Intermeccanica build with the 2.1l motor.

How much highers should I bid considering shipping will cost me $120.00.

Assume you mean $1200 shipping? Is the front tire too far back? --- I've seen several like that - couple have posted here too. Here's link to IM history which relates the IM to CMC sale in '76-79. Get a cheap flight to FL and check it out.

Yes, shipping was $1200.00 and not $120.00. The auction closes soon and his mechanic has recently installed a new exhaust, clutch and starter. Is 69k miles alot for this bored out engine? What do you think of the color?

My guess is the body/chassis has 69k miles and not the engine. IMHO 40k is about it for a VW A/C engine that has been modified. Every VW I've ever looked at has been advertised as "engine recently rebuilt/overhauled" -- and everyone has leaked oil.

Well Wolf; according to Gene Berg you should be able to squeeze out 100,000 miles from the top end and 200,000 from the lower end of a properly built and maintained VW aircooled engine.
