I may have an opportunity to purchase a D type 356. I would rather have a speedster. Does anyone know if the windshields are interchangeable, and what may be involved in the change?

I would think twice about that if the car in question is an Intermecanica D. There are tons of Speedsters that come for sale.
A replica right - not the real thing? You'll pay a premium for a D over a Speedster replica. It is as weather proof as a convertible 356 gets. Guess you could cut off windshield, remove windup glass side windows, dump the hi-bow top - and convert it to a drafty, leaky Speedster -- and save couple hundred # in weight. But why? If it's a good deal - buy it and swap for a Speedster.
If it is an Intermeccanica D type 356, you cannot switch the windshields and other components to convert it to a Speedster.
That windshield is a better thing.. If your car doesnt have roll up windows? your one step closer to have a better car <Do the roll up conversion as i did to mine and im very happy I used 84 Sidekick regs and made the rest. but the door edge chrome that holds the glass seal is from a cabriot
