Hi...We are looking for a Speedster...I am sure I will open myself up to some ridicule by my post but I am new here and just looking to buy a Speedster for a fair price.
Is this the place to look? My wife likes a red or green or even silver or black replica. We would like to stay under 15K. Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Keith, this is absolutely the best place to look, and there are no stupid questions. For your price you should be able to find a very nice used Speedster. Even though you don't have one yet, I'll give you our traditional greeting, "Welcome to the Madness!"

I see that you've posted in Fred Adler's thread. That's a nice looking car, and fits your wife's color selections. Where are you located?
Keith - I strongly urge you to try and attend the Carlisle show this year. You still have a couple of weeks to make arrangements. Doing so will allow you to try different cars from different manufacturers "on for size", as well as letting you get ideas for what you might want. You can also talk to many of us face to face over beer to determine what to look for and what to avoid. It's worth the money for the trip if you're serious about doing this. And besides, it's a lot of fun.

Oh yeah, OKIE = resident of Oklahoma.

Final advice - make sure you read the thread at the top of this forum titled "Ready for a Speedster Replica? - (Everything you need to know)".
Keith, my wife will be attending Carlisle, and we live about six minutes from BWI. There's going to be a caravan leaving from that area, so you won't get lost. I'm sure Teresa will slow down often enough for you to keep up. (She's nice like that.)
There will, for real -- no kidding -- be more than 40 Speedster replicas of every imaginable configuration, type, powerplant and so on represented there, along with some very knowledgeable builders.
And beer. Lots of good conversations happen over barley-pops at Carlisle. There might even be one or two on the show field for sale.
It's the biggest gathering on the East Coast for our type of people.

Keith, if you're serious (and want to visit Oklahoma - yes, I am an "Okie"), we may be able to work something out. Check out more photos and the specs in my profile. The "RED TUB" is pretty well sorted out and I'm very diligent with maintenance, valve adjustments, wheel alignment, etc. Currently has a little over 10K on the odometer.

I really love my speedster, but I love my wife more.....and she would very much prefer roll up windows, better heat and air conditioning.

Seeing more of Henry's creations at Morro Bay has me thinking really hard about making a move - if the stars line up.

Best regards,
Cal
