Any idea what it is? Appears to have a real 356 center tunnel with umbrella parking brake. Real 356 seats - that need a re-stuff. Really ugly interior - even the steering wheel and kick panels are poorly vinyl wrapped. 3L H6!
Appears to have been built from a CMC kit. Some other original P bits - including the gauges.
But signs of shade tree technology. Carpeting is, well, creative. Wonder how they're cooling that three liter.
Agree on CMC - couldn't enlarge the front hood handle emblem enough but it looks like their CLASSIC SPEEDSTER badge and the rear grill looks to be a cast Hibachi grill. the front looks strange with perhaps the roll pan under the bumpers cut taller? Maybe for a cooling radiator. I'm wondering if it has portions of a '64 356 uni-body pan vs a VW pan (I don't think that would be as strong without lots of extra effort - the VW tunnel adds a lot of support).
That's been for sale for a long time. Might just be a price issue?
Appears to me to be a good $10k over priced. The interior is a $3k fix right off the bat. The top and tonneau appear to be old CMC vinyl that fit poorly. No mention of disc brakes or anti-sway bars. The 3-3.6L Subbie H6 is rarely used in conversions - most pick the 2.2-2.5L which is lighter, shorter and still has plenty of power. I understand the H6 uses a timing chain (not belt) and has fewer head gasket issue - but is quite thirsty.
I don't think there is a huge weight penalty with the 6. Lenny has one with a harness and computer that he was going to put in a 912. The chain is a good thing, they are pretty reliable but yes thirstier. Not a big issue in such a light car though. Torque for DAYS......
5 minutes from my office if anyone likes this. I can take a peek.
That top and tonneau just make me sad.
The tonneau cover is just laying on top that someone didn't know how to fold up because the center bow is too high to be properly stored flush into the tub area.
