Okay, there has been alot of talk about doing a cruise so let me offer this up.

There is a place not too far from Carlisle called the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. It's not Porsches and sportscars but if you grew up liking anything from dirt track sprints and modifieds up through Indy and drag racing - it's great...take a look: www.emmr.org/ The museum is about 30 minutes from Carlisle and there is no admission, just donations. It is built next to a restored oval dirt track and they have vintage dirt track events during the year.

The museum is only open on Saturday and Sunday (and I'm reluctant to have us running all over the countryside on those two days rather than having everyone meeting in force at Carlisle) BUT, I just received an email response from Deb Wright saying they would open for us Friday morning. We just have to let them know how many people are coming so they can arrange to have the right number of people on hand at the museum.

For you guys arriving Thursday night and Friday morning, here's my suggestion: Whoever wants to do the cruise, meet at Carlisle at 9:00 and get registered. I'm planning to pull into the Carlisle fairgrounds EARLY Friday morning to register and get settled (the Speedster will be loaded with stuff for the meet). We'll plan to start lthe cruise from Carlisle at 9:30, get to the museum at 10:00 and shoot to be back to Carlisle in time for lunch. Alan Merklin and Bill Drayer previously offered to organize a cruise so I'll work with them off-line to see if we can out together an interesting cruise route to and from the museum.

What do you think? Let me know, we should try to have enough interest to make it worthwhile for the museum folks to open for us.
It's great to hear everybody signing up! Plans are coming together and we're excited already in the middle of January. There are two things you need to think about registering for as soon as you can and please let Alan or me know after you do - the hotel (Alan) and Carlisle (Bruce). Contact Alan directly to reserve for the Saturday evening dinner and contact Bruce for the Friday morning cruise. We'll can be a little more impromptu for the Friday evening dinner, the SCCA road course at Carlisle and the Saturday night kart races.

We hope to get everything up on the website as soon as we can but for now everything is on this thread. Please email Alan or I if you have any questions.

I just received an update letter from Carlisle, this was in it:

'cu down the Carlisle Road!

Hey to all you wild and crazy guys and gals. I had my new Beck speedster delivered Saturday, so it should be done in time. We had a great time last year, and I promise not to sell and leave early this time. Lindas mom did pass away a few days later, after we left. My new car is light ivory with a tan interior.(my favorite color combo) I guess this gives me something to think about while I shovel this stinkin, cold, snow.
Posted something similar over in another section, but just so everyone sees...

My sister is expecting my first nephew/niece and Dad's first grandkid right around the Carlisle dates. So, I'm not sure if we'll make it this year. We'll keep the room reservation just in case up until pretty close to the event.

Dad'll probably trailer his car down if we go. However, if that happens I might have an empty truck / trailer which would be looking for a Speedster/Spyder to ride along. I'll keep you guys posted!

Another first for Carlisle! As mentioned above, Carlisle Events entered into an agreement with Speed Channel to air "Cars at Carlisle," a one-hour television special featuring highlights of the 2004 Carlisle Events show season. The national premiere of the "Cars at Carlisle" program will air on Speed TV on Thursday, March 3, at 9 p.m. Eastern time (Check local listings for other areas). The special will be aired at least four times in 2005. Barry Meguiar, host of
One more event to keep you busy, this is posted on the Carlisle forum:

"Hi everybody! I just wanted to introduce myself as the new Event Manager for Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals. This is my second season with the company and as luck would have it, I've been assigned to my favorite show.

I'm working to add a few new activities that I think will be a lot of fun. One of them is a Cook-Off Challenge. We've seen your tailgating feasts and we want to find out who has the best grub on the grounds! Everyone is invited to submit an entry in one of the two categories: Main Course or Desert. It will be on Saturday at 3:00. Sign-up when you get to the show. Entries must be accompanied by a written recipe. (All recipes become the property of Carlisle Events.) Winning recipes will be posted on the web site. Bring enough of your entry for each of our 3 judges to taste (may require seconds!) There are cash prizes for each category: 1st - $200 plus a trophy, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50. Entries can be from clubs, groups or individuals. Start digging through your recipes!"

Any chefs coming to represent Speedsterowners.com?
