Hey Everyone, Hope everyone made it home safely after the downpour. Kathy and I would like to THANK EVERYONE for including us in the group as newbies. We had lots of fun and it was great to meet new friends and as we were told "just a bunch of fun people" which we found out to be very true!!
Thanks to Karen and Warren for opening their home to the group and special Thanks to Jen & Blake for putting it all together.
So, until we meet again,
Thank You, Jim & Kathy Carr

Safely home, through the heavy rain. Not a drop inside the car (you build them right, Henry).

Good times this weekend - new friends and lots of laughs with old ones. Thank you everyone, especially those who came to the rescue in my hour(s) of need. Car ran great on the way back. Hope everyone had a safe journey.

Looking forward to the next time.

John.
Not as fortunate as John B, shades of Paso a few years ago...
Have as much water inside the car as outside when I got home...
Butt...Had a great time...
A huge thank you to Warren & Karen for opening their home to this bunch of derilicks, and to Jen & Blake for putting this whole thing together. It was moved to June for better weather, so I have to assume the gods just don't want our affair to be better than the other coasts affair...
We had a number of newbies this year, and I would like to welcome them to join any of our local runs when the time permits....

I'm tired from all the clean-up I had to do when I got home, so I will post more later on, but here are some pic's for you....

Got home a couple of hours ago. Took a while to get the cabby clean! It was filthy from the "Chase Warren and Dave" drive on Saturday, plus another, what 600ish miles home.

Saturday was quite an adventure. I knew it was going to be an SOC day when a bunch of people pull out of hotel, drive to a gas station and everyone stops. Someone leaves, we think they know where they're going (to a meeting point for a couple of photos) so we all follow that person. Well, of course, NONE of us knew where we were going - LOL! Eventually, we got there. It's like we're all the Keystone Kops, except we spend so much time laughing at ourselves that no one minds.

It rained during the drive. Warren was leading the way in his 997. Now whatever Porsche has done through the years, one thing they have consistently proven is that each sports car derivitive they make, well, they just make the next one even better. The marque has never been known for complacency. Plus, you'll not hear Warren admit this, but it seems our convivial but ever low-key friend has spent a bit of time on the track with his 997... The end result was some very sweaty palms for me, and a quite decent workout for the cabby. As for Warren? Well, I think he did the whole tour while making coffee with his on-board espesso machine - LOL! The 997 ROCKS and Warren, my friend, you and Dave are most excellent drivers. Others too, but those were the two butts I saw the most of.

Can't tell you all how much fun and how nicely organized this event was. I love that there was a plan, but that it was loose enough to allow flexibility, and most importantly, I love the people.

Looking forward to 2012! And Naciemento road again (on the way down).

angela
I CANT MAKE IT

JEN AND BLAKE AWESOME JOB, THANK U SO MUCH
WARREN AND KAREN THANK U FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY

ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT TIME EVEN WITH THE RAIN

HENRY NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME. WHETHER THE WEST COAST OR THE EAST COAST HE IS ALWAYS WOKING OM SOMEONES CAR SO THEY CAN ENJOY THE TRIP

JEN, BLAKE, JOHN THE BRIT, CARROL AND I HAD ONE HELL OF A DRIVE ON THE 154 WITH LITTLE VISABILITY AND LOTS OF RAIN ON THE DRIVE BACK

WE ENDED UP IN VENTURA AND TOPPED THE TRIP OFF WITH BBQ RIBS

TO THE NEW PEOPLE WHO SHOWED UP THANKS FOR COMING AND PLEASE JOIN US FOR ADDITIONAL TRIPS

We had pretty good luck with the drive back up to Sacramento. The first hour was a bit wet but it stayed dry the rest of the way.
Had a great time! Jen and Blake (mostly Jen), excellent job! Karen & Warren, thanks for your hospitality (and garage, tools, etc).
Vince and Jim, look forward to you guys coming up for a wine tasting weekend. Vince, I know you're a smart ass on this site but you truly are a sweet man. Thanks for what you bring to this group.
Theron, thanks again for dinner and this site. The tailgator is coming your way! I'll give you a heads up when I'm coming down to the Bay Area, okay?
Great times with old friends, great times with new friends, great hospitality from Warren and Karen (twice). Jen and Blake did a wonderful job, period.

Thanks Theron for dinner!!!!!!!!

To everyone else from a first timer to this event thank you!

The drive was fun but I'm sure glad my brakes worked as good as they did because Warrens butt got quite large in one heck of a hurry........

Car is filthy but safe, warm and dry inside and out..........thanks Henry!

Rain or shine it was a fun time and I'm looking forward to next year.
Amazing trip- a big hats off to Jen and Blake for the planning...and to Warren for the hospitality at your home.

John the Brit- truly an amazingly funny guy in good spirits even after all of the car malfunctions. Can't forget the group hot tubin' in the rain and ending up in Harry's AKA Scary's bar last night with the local riff raff.

Had lunch in Santa Barbara to wait out the storm and made it back safely in the Spydey pretty late tonight- amazing how much water we took in - iPad, Laptop, camera, clothes etc all were soaked but that lazy susan made it back without a drop of water on it!

So glad we postponed getting hitched to hang out with you all! Great times- rain can't keep us down!

See you all when we return from paradise.

Chris & Rebecca

I am glad everyone who attended the Open House had a good time. Karen did all the work, I just drank. Thanks to Jen and Blake for making this a memorable event.
Jen, try planning this thing next year during the rainy season, we then should have dry weather.
Angela - You are quite the driver. Back home the same day, washed the car and took time to post. Angela and Dave/Terry were the only two that made the whole driving tour. Everyone said I went too fast, but how could that be, I was making Bloody Marys driving through the twisties. Didn't spill a drop. Angela, next time you are down this way, Karen and I will meet you for the Naciamento run.
Thanks to Dave, Dale and Henry for letting me drive your cars. Nice job to Henry on both of them.
Don't know if I will have the 997 for next year, but I will have something. This stuff is way too much fun.
By the way, for everyone reading this - check out Ken Vela's pictures. His outlaw is now my all time favorite outlaw. The attention to detail and the "think out side the box" nature of this build is truly inspiration. The more you look at this car, the more you find little special touches to draw your eye. Nicely done my friend.

Warren. Next year you are going to lead with a SLOWassed car - LOL!

Oh - funny quote of the week (from British Boy) when describing how much more fun this group is than the PCA group, "My neighber is in PCA, he is so self-absorbed that he wears condoms with the ribs on the INSIDE."

BWAHAAAA!!

angela
Sherry, The Tinker Toy and I got home safely (all be it wet) yesterday.
We can now fully appreciate the nickname of "TUBS".
A TRULY MEMORABLE TIME. We both want to thank Blake, Jen, Warren, Karen, and ALL who attended.
Looking forward to next year.....
PS: WIKD 356, You folks rock, especially with the rain you had to deal with (is there a BIG plug in the bottom of that Outlaw?).....
PPS: What, NO long distance award for Angela? Impressive Person.....
Doug
What an awesome weekend! Thank you to everyone to who made the trip, it was definitely all of you that made it so memorable!

Some of my favorite things about the weekend: I agree with Angela, "ribbed on the inside" was a hilarious moment! But, also ask John about "curley teeth" next time you see him. And, Angela definitely deserved an award for being such a road warrior. Julie & Ken were the ultimate troopers - they went topless for the whole trip! Roger finished the weekend with a new love for pinot noir. We got to see friends we hadn't seen in years and meet so many new ones. Our raffle prizes rocked - plexi windows, an iPad 2, cash from the sale of the raffle tickets - Vince did a great job organizing that. Hot tub cocktail hour. De Palo's market next to the hotel - they carry everything from 24's to Ben & Jerry's to fresh baked pastries to Dom Perignon to Body Chocolate (as Rebecca pointed out). The best group photo the west coasters have ever done (thanks Warren), and we managed to do it in the rain! This list could go on forever...

The only thing missing was Cornhole as we were rained out. Maybe I'll have to put together a SoCal Speedster Cruise/Cornhole tournament sometime this summer.

Jen
I want to thank all those who contributed to the Raffle, won't name names or who brought what, but they made it the best......This is a very generous group of people...
and a large shout out to all those who bought tickets...we collected over 700 dollars which is a very large number for the size of this group....
An ipad (I actually don't know what that is) but it looked impressive. Plexiglass windows...I need a pair of those, in fact I will be planning a trip later this summer
to Fibersteel(sp)I will get with Alex to see when is a good time, for those who may be interested in a set, keep your eyes peeled to the events section..
Thanks again to everyone, you guys and gals are the best....
When I built this car I had no idea the fun and all the great people I would meet. I hate to say it, but it is more fun then my Pro street 500hp 57 Chevy. I would like to thank all of you that put together and attended a great show! This was our first time out and the most memorable show with plenty of wet stories to tell. I think someone up there likes me cause it was like driving with my hood up with a shower head in my face at 50psi!(Sting in the Rain)Lol!

I also have great respect for Rolland who in less than 24 hrs built me a header exhaust system! Everyone else said you want what when? Your A1 F%#*$? nuts....I went to Rolland and he said OK! However I have one complaint....Now I need a new clutch because the stock one can't handle the extra torque. Kennedy here I come! Great job Rascon Motor Sports!

Thank you Blake & Jen, Warren and Karen, Vince for your time and efforts to make it another memorable trip.
Larry Bull, Chrisy and I made the Monday return trip together.
We were having so much fun that we missed the turn off of 166 and went all the way to 33
before heading back to the coast via Ojai. No rain and fun driving.

I had a great time last weekend playing in the rain with everyone. It was great to see everyone, and meet some new friends, I can't wait until next year!

I've posted some of the pictures I took. Feel free to save the file of the post if you would like to use them for your personal collections.
