speedsters as daily drivers (in San Francisco)?

YEP DEFINITELY A DAILY DRIVER HERE IN SOUTHERN CA

Can't see any reason not to unless you're paranoid about the effects on any daily driver...bugs, minor scratches, other idiots on the road etc. On the other hand many owners have show quality cars and would likely never use it as a daily driver. My backup is a 1500 Ram 4x4 though....mostly winter driven.

its not the rain I'm worried about in SF..it's the roads. Potholes. Ridiculous parking (others parking skills)...and the obvious scenario of 'bottoming out'. I'd HAVE to use a parking garage and avoid all rush hour shenanigans. Oh yeah and rust...foggy over 200 days a year right next to the bay

I was planning on taking the streets like this Gymkana 5 video.  If you have 10 minutes to spare, it is definitely worth watching.  Not a Mustang, but still done in a Ford.

On a serious note, thanks for the feedback.  I have a garage and live on the "sunny" side of SF.  I am quite aware of the areas of potholes, and bad parking........my Mercedes is quite the land yacht.  It is an all original 43 y/o car who prefers not to be wet, so I try to minimize its exposure to the elements.

MooseX: are you in the Bay Area?

 I lived there for years. Los Altos near 280... Moved my business up to TAHOE.

 I'd be scared to death to drive my baby around the 'streets of san francisco' on a consistent basis. Maybe some quick blasts around town on weekend mornings. You def' need some kind of auto cruiser.

 I will say that would be a great home base. I could to take weekly jaunts into hills ie skyline boulevard..Highway 1..Santa Cruz mountains..Monterrey, Carmel. There's tons of fun to be had there with the right vehicle.

 I'm seriously considering storing it in Scotts Valley (adjacent to Santa Cruz) for the winter. I could drive down in the BMW land yacht and use the Roadster for weekends. It would be a great get away from the snow

My VS is a daily driver. But in your situation, IMHO the issue would not be the wear & tear of street or weather conditions. It would be the driving skills of other drivers in close proximity to your Speedy (parking garages, parallel parking on steep inclines, waiting at a traffic signal on a steep incline with the person in front of you rolling back into your car or the person in back of you right up on your bumper). Stay with the MB for city driving and Speedy for cruising around the bay area. Peace-Out!
