I was at Barrett/Jackson today with Doug Kingston and we watched as the Ferris Bueller Ferrari Modena replica was rolling up for auction. It was the first of three cars made for the movie. It sold for $396K plus buyer's premium.
$400k for a "kit car." I absolutely will be looking into BJ for the Spyder sale.
It better have a Subie power plant in it for that kind of money and a gift certificate to an Escort service.
$50,000+? Are the buyers totally unaware of what they're buying? Or will some rich guy's wife just be reselling this surprise anniversary present with 2000 miles on it and an unsatisfied experience, much like her wedding night?
And Iisted as a replica or not, I'm surprised that Barrett Jackson would say "this Porsche has only test miles"
People get drunk in Scottsdale and buy on emotions. He or she can now sell it for$35,000 or so . Wow! What a great buy!
No pics of dashboard. Is it a JPS?

People get drunk with the auction hype , emotion, live TV and impressing their wife or the girl they have hanging on their arm. Back in 2004 when I was teaching Auto Shop we built a custom silver blue speedster we sold it to a private party then a year later it went across BJ Auction for another $10 grand higher than I sold it for.
It looks very much like the one shown in the Vintage Motorcars Facebook posting of 09/19/19. It was being sent to a Hubbard Auto Center in Scottsdale, AZ.

The Bueller Ferrari Modena reproduction had a V8 in it.
Robert M. I was talking about the speedster having Subie horsepower.
I’m pretty sure this was Vintage Motorcars. I keep forgetting there are 2 now.
Vintage Motorcars of California. There is also a Vintage Motorcars USA, and a Vintage Motorcars LLC in Connecticut. Neither specialize in Speedsters or Spyders. Vintage Speedsters is in Scottsdale, AZ. What other VMC are you referring to??

A subie here, a subie there, a subie subie everywhere. Lol

$55K. Wow!
I guess if or when the time comes to unload our prides of joy, we'll head to Barrett-Jackson?
I always thought Hubbard was a silent partner in Vintage Speedster AZ, seems weird he would get one from Vintage Motorcars CA.

the koolaid is spiked for effect with ... add want you are familiar with ... ketamine
You get 10 drinks per day with your bidder number and they were good pours! If you had the limit each day you might end up with anything. My wife is an accountant and was standing next to me with a calculator showing me what the cost would be with bidders premium, sales tax, and shipping! We didn’t bring anything back but we came close.
Hello all,
We built the Speedster for Hubbard Auto sales(lot#715) they are a dealer for us , we have been building cars for them since the new guys moved it to Scottsdale.

It was beautifully done Greg.
About a year ago I found the Hubbard site and came across the Seal Grey with baseball glove interior what a beautiful speedster, then I found out that Greg VMC was the builder, total craftsmanship ! I didn't need to think about it any longer, I built one with that color combination .

Glad to see that Greg confirmed what I suggested on 01/19/20. I am still breaking in his 2332cc engine in my new Speedster. It moves!
The White one that sold for $41,800 was built by Vintage in Arizona. You can clearly see the extra snap in the attached photo. There is no comparison between the excellent build quality of Greg's cars built in California and the cars built by the new owners of Vintage in Arizona.
If you look closely at the photo you can also see that the tonneau does not lay flat against the body. There is a bulge in the fabric between the snaps. The Arizona tonneau is only one layer of material, while Greg's and Kirk's cars used two layers. Just one of the MANY issues I saw with the Arizona built cars.
Pity the buyer of that White car if the seller didn't already spend several thousand dollars to correct all the issues it is likely to have. Pity them both for not doing a little homework and saving thousands of dollars by buying a Speedster directly from Greg in California.
