Hey Hey....

Bruce has asked and I have accepted the task of organizing a western caravan to Carlisle. For those of you who don't know me, I have the blue Streetbeast flared speedster and have been posting to SO.com for about a year. Bruce has supplied me with a list of potential folks coming from the Midwest to Carlisle this May. We are hoping that the caravan may spark the interest of some of you who are on the fence about going, you know who you are. I will be trailering my car from the Cleveland area and will have plenty of room for tools and other supplies.

I think the hardest part of organizing a caravan will be not so much picking a route, but nailing down meeting places and times. Hopefully cell phones and careful planning can eliminate any problems. I plan on designing the entire plan using some trip/mapping software so I can email everyone the same exact directions. I also plan on supplying an information sheet to each of you. Eventually I will need the following information....

1. Estimated time of departure Friday? (can be a range of time i.e. 8am - 12pm)
2. Driving or towing?
3. Car spotting information (Color, make, model)
4. Cell Phone Numbers
5. Do you own or plan to purchase a CB radio?
6. Any suggestions for stopping points or other ideas

Bruce asked me to be sure you call the hotel and restaurant and reserve your spot as soon as you can.

I know its early to start planning the trip, but it's 20 degrees outside, my garage isn't heated and I'm bored. So if your interested please let me know.

The more the merrier!!!

Jerome,

THANKS for agreeing to coordinate the Midwestern caravan and getting things rolling. Drivers are usually more comfortable just having another car to cruise with but the fact you will have the truck, trailer and tools should give people an better feeling of security. Right now it looks like the caravan will be starting in Iowa!!
I'll be at Carlisle early Friday morning to watch the parades of Speedsters arriving.....what a site that will be.

We'll be posting your contact info, route and stopping/meeting points on the Speedsters East website so all the western drivers can access it. Stay tuned!!
It looks like we will need 3 rally points.

To get to the hotel by 5:00....

Northwest Rally Point - Toledo I-90...Then I-80 to Pittsburg Rally Point - 6:00am

Southwest Rally Point - Columbus I-70...To Pittsburgh Rally Point - 8:00am

Pittsburgh Rally Point - Around I-76/I-70 interchange - 2:00pm

Hotel - 5:00pm

I added some time for stops, may not be enough.

Let me know if this seems realistic.

Jerome
