Yes, Virginia.....

Max has (or had, I'm not sure which) a Speedstah.

Some sort of silver-y gray thing or something.

Can't honestly recall the interior as it's been quite a few years since I've seen it last (or I had a few beers, but most likely the former) .

I do remember Max, though, I think.

Can't recall exactly what he looks like, but I remember that he's sort-a tall. But, then.....when you're 5 foot six, just about everyone's tall, except for most Japanese (but they fit most of today's cars, don't they?)

I do remember his wife, Toni, though. She's unforgettable. Max? Not so much.

Oh.....Does Max have a Speedster?

If so......Why isn't he on the "I've signed up for Carlisle" list??
Gordon -- Thanks for the offer. It'd be awesome to have you come hang out, have some beers, stay awhile, but as far as the Speedster goes, it's finally something I need to take care of myself. Intervention. What a freaking embarrassment.

The good news is that two longstanding priorities are finally over. First is that my sister and her two kids were finally awarded survivor benefits for losing Jim to Agent Orange induced cancer sixteen years ago. A long hard-fought battle with the VA for a guy who did three Navy tours in the rivers of Vietnam. The award takes a big financial burden off Toni and me. Two great kids can stop wondering what their dad's sacrifice meant to the country he served. I can start being more of a dad than a provider.

Second has been this book thing I've been writing longer than I care to remember without a potent sedative. The past few years -- at the whimsy of an agent and some publishers and with me doing all the heavy lifting -- it's gone from a two-book to a six-book back to a three-book package. It's finally done. At least my part. And off to the powers that be for their turn.

So all I'm down to now is resurrecting this neglected and failing business Toni and I run and finally -- finally -- getting the Speedster up and running. That's pretty much it. Unless I have to sell it to cover things, which Toni is dead against, you can count on seeing it at Carlisle.

Not that you should ever take anything I say on faith.

Anyway, Gordon, it's offers like yours -- and buddies like Danny and Alan and -- hell every one of you -- that make the SOC the greatest group of people I've ever known. Hands down. Wish we all lived in the same town. Like a town all to ourselves.

For the doubters and ball busters -- Max has a Speedster. See photos.

Max, if the first week of April rolls around and your car is not running yet, I promise you we will descend on your humble abode with wrenches, jackstands and enough knowledge (that means there'll be at LEAST five of us) to get that car running for you.

Your friendship, wit and comraderie have touched pretty much everybody in the East Coast Speedster community. I can't think of a better way to say thanks than to "turn to" on that car of yours.

First week of April.
Got a 3-day pass from the CO, I be there in May. Made reservations for 5/17, 5/18 and 5/19 at the Courtyards by Marriott.Making a solo run so I renewed my Satellite Radio and will listen to down home country on the way up. Will have an open right seat for anyone needing a ride. Just had the car repainted and reupholstered taking care of the road rash and worn leather from 3 years of driving.now the only needed is a bra to protect that new paint job.
