To all,

I can't stress enough that if you are coming to Carlisle and plan to join us for ANY of the three dinners (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) or the Friday lunch you MUST send an RSVP (see above) to me indicating your plans. Otherwise, I cannot reserve a spot for you. I can't stress this enough - we are limited in space. This applies to ANYONE who is or is not bringing a Speedster, Spyder, Cabriolet, Coupe, MG or any other vehicle and wants to participate in the events. 'nuff said.

Oh I wish I could attend. Things have been rough lately. The dark employment plague was casted amongst the corp. division I work for. Yes,oil companies are tightening up their belts also. 50% of our division was slatted for layoffs. We basically had to apply for our jobs. Good news I have a job. Bad news I have to go to Iraq for a few weeks. I have to go through a bunch of training next week.
Have fun.. and have a few cold one's for me.
Joe
If you're joining us for the Meet, don't forget to register with Carlisle. You can save $10 if you register prior to April 19th. Here's the link: http://store.carlisleevents.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=2010-702

Make sure you select your club as "Speedster Owners".

The $20 registration will get you, your car and another person through the gate and onto the grounds all weekend. And don't forget to let me know when you register so we can get credit towards the Club Challenge for the most registrations.

"If you would like your entry window sticker mailed to you, please pre-register prior to April 19th, 2010. After registering, a receipt will be emailed to you - please bring this receipt to the event. Multi-vehicle discounts available. Discount only applies to cars registered at the same address and purchased during a single order. (Limit of 5)"

I'm sad to say that Marc and I are going to be no shows at Carlisle this year.
One of my favorite Captains (besides Marc!) has chosen to retire this May. And, yes, his retirement flight is on the same weekend as Carlisle. I've been asked to be part of the crew, and that is a REALLY big deal. Retirement flights are always fun, exciting, as well as a little sad. It's very emotional for a Senior Captain to hang up his wings, and to be a part of his last flight with commercial aviation means a lot. I really hate to miss Carlisle because I've been looking forward to it but this trip is a one time only deal.

We'll miss seeing everyone. Have fun and drive safe!!!

I just noticed Carlisle is running a video contest this year that might be of interest to someone. The site says:

"Carlisle Events YouTube.com Video Contest
You could win 1 of 20 Apple iPod Nanos
Carlisle Events is hosting the 2008 YouTube Video Contest at all of the specialty car shows this season and we want to see your best video submissions. The rules are simple and this contest is open to all guests of Carlisle Events. We have broken the contest into two categories to keep it fair - amateurs and professionals."

Just an idea of the things going on at Carlisle:

Giveaway car, our own Speedster owners raffle, on-site SCCA autocross, a field full of imports, the largest kit car gathering in the nation, many replica displays and new releases, swap meet/flea market, seminars, press, many vendors and suppliers, vintage import motorcycles, race car paddock, featured vintage and specialty German vehicles, live bands all weekend,.......and more.

Come out and join us!

WOO-FREAKIN'-HOO!!!!!!

I just realized (silly me) that one month from today I will be hitting the road north toward Christiansburg and thence to Carlisle. As I said, WOO-FREAKIN'-HOO!!!!!!

My enthusiasm is perhaps a bit greater due to the fact that what I am working on today is BORING, and two days in a noisy little car looks like a great improvement - particularly when it's taking me to see all my fellow Speedsteroids, eat egg sammies, and drool on cars I probably can't afford.

Ok, I guess I'd better get back to (sniff, whimper) work.
David,

If you're going to participate in the Friday lunch or any of the three dinners, please send me an RSVP with your plans so we can reserve space. We're already maxed out on the Friday night dinner at the Rustic Tavern and are sending the overflow to the Carlisle Diner a couple of blocks away. The other two dinners are approaching max too.

See details at the top of this thread.
