Boiling Springs tavern is one of our favorite places in Pennsylvania. If some of you remember the LMS and I directed everyone to it for lunch after the Harley-Davidson tour a couple of years ago. (What a relief from the rain, eh?) We head there for dinner the first night we get back to PA. We are going to miss it almost as much as we miss being with everyone this year as long as we can't get there and sell the ranch too. :-(

Have fun and drink a beer for us.

Here is my favorite picture of the pond across from the tavern.

Who do we bribe to get the Speedsters Meet Spyders logo back up in the little box on the homepage? Theron?
I guess that's what I'll do with my annual $35.00 contribution this year. ;)

(Does he take bribes?)

Next item: We need to have a designated weatherman -- or weatherwoman -- for this event. It's just about time to spin the wheel ...
I'll open nominations with the Distinguished Mr. "Iron Pants" from Arkansas.
Do I hear a Second? Whadd'ya say, Jack? Do you have some chicken bones and a map of the Eastern United States?
Weatherunderground is the site I use to try and determine what weather MIGHT be like somewhere. (Google it if the link below does not work) After choosing the place you want to check the weather on look for the "trip planner" and click on it then input the dates that you are thinking about. It'll come back after looking at 8-10 years of history and tell you what you might expect. You can then look at the dialy charts below for details IE: once it said rain every day for a plce we were thinking about but when I checked the daily stats it did indeed rain each and every day but from about 2-5 AM...during the day it was nice and sunny.

For Carlisle May 19-24th it says Ave temp is warm with 4% chance of a hot, + 90, day; Ave daily precip is 0.1 with a 21% chance of a rainy day; Ave cloud cover is partly cloudy with a 36% chance of a cloudy day; etc.

I'll be closer than usual that weekend, be at our place in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, but we'll have to wait for another year to make the final few miles to Carlisle. I'll also have to put the car back together which has ground to a stop while waiting to get off these damn crutches.
I'm still working on these, so there will be changes between now and then, but it's one more thing to look forward to. I'll be doing a few for the drawing also.

(They're nowhere near the quality of an original Heidi Gallo watercolor, but you can sure put 'em up in the garage. Frankly, I'd love to have some of her work. I'd hang up my pens if I could paint like her!)

Cory,
I am SO SORRY that we cannot come this year! I really wanted a picture or our car and trailer to put on the wall with our favorite trophies. Next year you have to get your drawings worked up ahead of time!!! One more thing for me to shoot for, eh?

Pass on our regrets to BERT that we will not be there to give her a big hug. (did I tell you how much we enjoyed her visit to the ranch? Your turn next ... whereever we are!)

Drink a GOOD glass of wine to us.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and the LMS
ONE WEEK TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm putting together an email to send out to everyone with some last-minute reminders and suggestions (hard to believe but some people actually do not read this site). Here's what I have so far, anything else?:

1. If you pre-registered with Carlisle you should have already received your window sticker and goody bag voucher. Don

I just noticed this link on the Carlisle website of a directory for the weekend:
http://www.carlisleevents.com/ce/pdf/2010_Import_Directory_web.pdf

The front page has a good photo that gives you an idea of what the "fun" field looks like during the weekend. Farther down you'll see the Carlisle weekend schedule, a list of seminars (including "Ins and Outs of Weber Carbs", "How to Restore and Complete Old Kit Cars", and "How to Assemble a Killer Kit Car Without Breaking the Bank"), three live bands on Saturday, autocross, some shots of this year's giveaway car, a map of the grounds showing the location of our tent (same as last year and right next to the seminar tent and the Midway), a list of vendors and more.

Page 7 has a great overhead shot of some of our group from last year - first place for registrations!

Anyone doing the Autocross this year?

Check it out.
Jim Chichi RSVP'd for Saturday evening dinner at the Sunnyside. Thanks, Jim!

Jim's car will be in the JPS Motorsports display but he will be driving his 1958 Bugeye Sprite and hanging with the local Vintage Sports Car Club. His club is promoting their Meeting of Marques International Car Show to be held June 5th at the Hershey Medical Center. The show is in support of the Children's Miracle Network and is open to all marques including replicas. Carlisle Events is one of our supporters and you will get a flyer in your registration goody bag.

I've been redoing my Beck Thunder Ranch Spyder since the Fall.
light body work and paint, front faux grill, leather seats, Vintage Spyder's carpet, banjo wheel w/ P horn button, OEM style front signal lights, new headlight assemblies, mucho wiring upgrades. 1915 now has fresh pistons and jugs, fan oil cooler, new carbs, balanced fan, remote filter. New brakes, steering box, damper. Fabricated side curtain brackets, made the top fit right.
Been tearing my hair out. I couldn't get it to run decent and we all seem to by pass the simple stuff. Turns out that the aftermarket aluminum degree pulley silk screen degree markings were way off. Found this by rotating to #1 to TDC and the marking on the pulley were way off. The fix was to count off 30 has marks on the pulley from where the actual TDC was and it ran.
I'll meet up with the southern caravan at Shoney's, Hagerstown, MD then on to Hotel Carlisle .... Have a safe trip !
~Alan
