Tom that really stinks but totally understand the work gig. With any luck I will be able to make the drive in July for the telegraph cruise.
As a former Detroiter, what is the Telegraph Cruise????????????
I have spent more time at traffic lights @ W. Chicago, Schoolcraft, Warren Ave embarrassing Detroit iron with my Deano Dynosaured '69 convertible than anywhere else.

Second Carlisle event I have to miss. Something came up that I must attend on the same weekend ... hope to meet you guys next year. Maybe El Guapo will be there then too... Ray
I live a couple of blocks off of Telegraph in Dearborn, so a convenient spot to congregate for an afternoon.

Following is the final weekend schedule (emailed to all who RSVPd on May 6):
Too bad I won't have that weather for the drive up.
Unfortunately we have to cancel attending Carlisle for mechanical reasons....I've just run out of time. The new engine and transmission are running just great but unforeseen work on the right axle, leaky new rad, stripped out brake drum, new windshield wiper system and the new engine mount etc. leaves me with little to no time to road test enough to commit to travel. See ya'll next year. Have a great show.
David, Come in the daily driver, too much fun to miss !
That's too bad, David. We are still registered, but life events up here are changing for us. We'll know in a couple of days.
We'll be coming to Ottawa sometime soon, so we'll be in touch and it would be great if we could meet up.

Well, Lane..... It wouldn't be "Carlisle" if you didn't get soaked going in at least one direction now, would it?
I remember returning in 2004 to Rhode Island from Carlisle in a 4-hour, torrential downpour. Wouldn't have been all that bad, but that was in the days before I installed the convertible top.......
Took over a week to dry things out. That winter, I put the top in.
But Chris and I were back the next year!

Thanks for that, Alan but it's just not for me. I'll spend that time wrenching and getting things right for the road. I'm so close it's damn near killing me but I've got to do the right thing.

Hating that message a lot, David. I certainly understand and will look forward to seeing you and Francine next year.
RATS RATS RATS!!! Dang, Dave, now half the entertainment won't be there.
Mine is still up on the lift. Hoping to actually drive her today, but… the optimist in me says everything is going to be perfect, and a 2 hour drive to Carlisle should be no problem (except possible rain).
I fully recognize that I may, at the last minute, be forced to drop out. Please don’t let the whole winter have been for nothing.
Looks like I'll be in and out of showers Tuesday and Wednesday on the way up. Saturday is looking like a soaker at the show field if you believe weather.com or wunderground.com.
The Local 27 News says partly sunny mid 70's....
Accu Weather : Saturday showers still 5 days away.
Let's hope Local 27 is correct. Fingers and toes crossed.
Don't forget the Blue Tape!

For the first time ever, Lou Santiago of Velocity’s Car Fix TV show is coming to the Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals. Direct from his home base in Charlotte, Lou is a larger than life personality who has seen his fair share of TV and garage time. This Navy veteran is a Bronx, New York native who served his country by maintaining heavy equipment that was vital to the safety and support of Seal Team Eight. His fabrication abilities were an asset, as parts were sparse and conditions intense.
After his retirement in 1997, Lou earned his Associates in Human Behavior and worked as a Behavior Management Technician at a school for children with behavioral challenges. At the same time, he taught himself how to build transmissions, brackets, roll cages and chassis. His talents took him to TV in 2005 and he’s pretty much been there ever since.
It’s those talents and personality that bring him to Carlisle and you have a chance to meet him. Throughout the weekend, Lou will not only be one of you; an enthusiast walking the grounds enjoying cars, but he’ll also be positioned in Building T on Saturday between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. for autographs, photos, etc. The coolest part though, is that while Lou is out and about, he’ll talk shop with you, look under your hood and provide any feedback to car questions you may have.
Two days to go!! ...I did some last minute adjustments and installed the wiper arms on Project 40, stick a fork in it and call it done !
My car is ready and partially packed. I'll complete that last task tomorrow and hit the road late morning in the face of a nasty weather system. Wish me luck!
Have a safe and enjoyable trip north !
Dang, re Stroud. We'll miss ya, buddy.
Pete,
It's possible someone will have the stuff you need to put snaps in your tonneau cover I kind of doubt it. I have what you need here at my place if you want to come by some time - in northern Maryland. You have a top, right?
One more day to Speedsters Meet Spyders in Carlisle weekend!!
In case you missed it, Jim Kelly is driving his Subie-powerd Speedster across the US from California (he residence is in Fiji) to the Carlisle gathering. The last I heard he was 50 miles west of Nashville, Tennessee. You can read about his travels in a couple of threads elsewhere on this forum:

Safe travels and we're looking forward to meeting you in Carlisle, Jim.

Really looking forward to meeting everyone this week! Just debating if I hit the road at 5am or wait until 8:30 when traffic begins to dissipate. See ya all Thursday night.
-Joe
Looks like Thursday evening and Friday will be nice. Saturday is showing 70% rain all day. Sunday 50% rain. Sunny Monday of course.
As far as Carlisle goes weather is not and all that bad. Just in case bring a cheap car cover:-0
Quit your whining, get in, start it up, and go!
I don't think anyone can top my dedication of 2006: No top, hailstones in the forehead, deluge-driving, wipers WAY too slow, Gorton fisherman suit, etc.......
So we're trading David Stroud for Joe Fortino. I hate to miss David, he's always worth an "eh" or two (not to mention broken windshields). Joe doesn't speak Canadian, but is just as friendly.
Joe, I didn't realize you were coming. I'll order a pizza for your arrival.
David, I hope to see you next year, but I agree with Alan, bring the daily driver!
Man from what I understand David has some big shoes to fill, I will do my best.
Rich please get the pizza ready, with any luck I will be there by 6pm Thursday.
If you will arrive at the Hotel by 6 go directly to the Caddy Shack for dinner with the gang.

Meant I have to fill some big shoes... This is what I get for multitasking.
I've probably logged over 30 hours seat time on this trip, and hit rain in every state except California. I've had the wipers on more than off. Solid rain today from Jackson, TN to Woodstock, VA.
Jim this is really impressive, outside of the wipers sounds like the car is running well.

Keep on truckn' , Jim and fly straight. Good on ya. You'll make a fine impression at Carlisle. Don't forget to include your flying distance + your driving distance for the interest of all. That must be like half the earth or something... Enjoy the ride, Amigo.
