Spindle and 5-Wide Front Disc Brake Kit Install

On my 2000 Vintange Speedster I am running VW disc brakes up front, but am having to replace my disc spindles with drum spindles in order to install an AC Industries 5 wide front disc brake kit. I am going to 5 wide wheels all around. I can get the 5 wide pattern on the rear by changing out my brake drums.

A question I have is how difficult is it to change out the spindles? Secondly, while changing out the spindles I'd also like to replace the upper and lower ball joints?

Is this something (spindle and ball joint change out) that I can do at home (I am a pretty accomplished mechanic, but do not have a press)?

Any input, observations or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Easy to do at home but you will need to pull off control arms and take them to some place with a press or borrow one of the tools that lets you do it while they are on the car. With my move from VA to FL can't recall if I kept extras set of drum spindles and control arms. If not in hurry I can check in week or so.
