Recently I heard a story about a speedster that while in storage had the rear end damaged by a tornado, the owner had a lot of spare Porsche parts and replaced the damage with the front hood and cowl from a 1962 Porsche, if that wouldn't get yer eyeballs spinning not much would. Does anyone have pictures or details or know where this car is? My car is in the planning (big pile of parts) stage and this just sounded like an interesting possibility.

Both of those fronts would work for me, Belisimo. I did find the Sportolet the guy had taken a front hood/bonnet and cowl from a 1962 and grafted them to the rear of his Speedster, sounds stupid but looks fantastic. some pictures on Ferdinand web site.
Post some pics!
pictures , these pictures are not mine, copied from Ferdinand.
Well that's certainly different.
Yes it really is. The windshield looks like my old (long gone) 59 cabrolet. This car was appealing to me as I have most of the bits to make a Spyder but I like this body style better.
The windshield looks like that of a Roadster. The cabrio has a painted frame that is part of the body.
Any pics with the engine lid up? Can you tell us anything more about the car?

Windshield, I mention this because I thought it would look better with the lower/smaller speedster windshield.

It would look better but if you have roll up windows there will be a problem.
I hope you have short legs...
I cant see in the pictures if there is a window crank. The story I've pieced together is the guy who built it Lewis Hauser is a restorer that had a front clip, some doors and a bunch of other stuff a chassis, a 912 motor but no rear, he did have a 1962 front cowl and hood, there you have it, Bobs your uncle. why would I need short legs?

After reading your comment, I took a tape measure out to the garage and measured my mid engine set up, approx 24" from axle center to front of engine, next I went to the speedster body and placed the tape on it, that 24" would place the front of the engine well into drivers compartment, so.... you are correct sir, I would need short legs.
