Are there many decent cruising roads over on the Island? We're contemplating retiring to the Cobble Hill/Shawnagin Lake area in a year or two.
seriously? it's an absolutely picturesque place to live.
roads going up to long beach are about as good as they come in terms of curves, lack of perpendicular side roads, scenery, no cops, wide life (ie: bears)

I drove that road about 8 years ago when I first had my IM. We stayed in Tofino for two days and it never stopped raining. If I remember correctly the road was in rough shape. Mind you, it was much better than when I drove it in the early 70s, in my 1966 Mini. Back then it was gravel past Port Alberni.
ya, it rains here a fair amount.
there are lots of nice roads though. much of that highway has been repaved.
