I'm new to the group but have owned and sold 4 Porsches (2, 356, 2 911).  I'm now considering a replica either a coupe or a speedster.  I live in South Texas, so it is hot.  I saw this one for sale:

Anyone know anything about it?  How good is the Gilmore Enterprises A/C?

We can put AC in a coupe, we can also build you a bespoke Speedster or Pre-A Bent window Coupe. We are a paying supporter and advertiser here on the forum. We can put Type 1, Type 4, and Subaru EJ25 engines in either the Speedster or Coupe.

Our attention to detail and quality of parts we use aren't even close to being touched. If you get a minute, check out the links below.

Just noticed the price on that Speedster and options. We can match them for a few grand more and you can have a custom built one with zero miles on it (actually about 100 after we break it in...), you choose the color, interior, engine options for a 1915cc, AC, leather... you get the point.

Feel free to give me a call or send an email... our website is being updated and is lacking information and pictures currently. Has a few... but not enough.

Here is the problem with Carlisle... we're always so busy!!! haha. Yea, Greg from Vintage Spyders is supposed to be going out there this year, says in the last 20+ years he has never gone. I figure its past due. This year I will try my best to go, regardless if we bring a car or two or not. I would love to bring a car but all the cars in the shop are pre-ordered and we can never find time in the day to build anything for us to use as a shop vehicle... or they sell when we try. I want to bring out some of our work. Maybe I can bribe some f our previous clients to bring their car or we ship them out there.

Regardless, I need to get out there and meet you guys!

Daniel, I've had this conversation with Greg for YEARS. But , I spoke with him recently, and he promised that this year he would make it. I hope so, because I've always wanted to hoist a pint with him. Imagine, Henry R, Carey and Kevin, and Greg all in the same place. You should come too Daniel!

I'm sure there will be a couple Spyders there, a type1(mine), a type4(Lenny) and most probably a Suby(sworn to secrecy on whose), all Vintages by Greg. Carey always brings one Spyder, and in fact sold one last year at the show.

What is a bespoke speedster? Are you building speedsters now?Originally Posted by Seduction Motorsports:

"Bespoke" in reference to goods, something that is made to order, custom made

Hello Daniel.  Are any of your previous clients on the SOC?

Hello Daniel.  Are any of your previous clients on the SOC?

Nope, have not sold any vehicle to any members of Speedster Owners or SpyderClub however I do still pay for advertising on here for some reason lol.

Sold 14 Spyders, 2 Coupes, and we're starting our Speedster. The Speedster will be a pan based vehicle.

Here's the problem... most of my clients don't even have time to use forums, most of them check Facebook from time to time. Most all of them have Facebook, so you can see or communicate (comment on their pics, message them, etc) on Facebook.

I post more on the Speedster Owners Facebook page and the Porsche 550 Spyder Replica Club group on Facebook. You guys should join those groups if you haven't already.

I've only met a few guys who had SOC grille badges here in Arizona, waited around for about 35 minutes to meet one owner of a wide body Speedster but he never came back to his car (at a car show event).

I get a lot of crap here on SOC from members, not very welcoming to be quite honest... which is why I don't post much on here. Honestly, lots of companies have come and gone in the past who stole money, flaked, etc on the forums... We're over here doing our thing and to be quite honest. I personally believe we have one of the best products on the market. We have open doors here in Chandler, AZ for those who want to come check us out. I'm not one of those business owners who sites behind a desk all day... I'm actually in the shop building these vehicles so if I don't answer a call or email, I'll get back to you usually before the day is over.

It takes lots of hours to hand build these cars with the attention to detail and quality. Most of you guys buy Vintage Speedsters... they're made in 3 weeks... Lets be honest, they're decent for the price and turn around time. You pick a few options, get a basic build. We build Bespoke turnkeys, night and day difference.

Here is the shop address for those who don't think I'm real (BTW I am at the shop as we speak on a Sunday, working all day by myself, taking time to reply to this post as well). I was here until 4:18am last night as well. For those who have some free time (seems most posters on this forum have an over abundance of time anyways) come give us a visit:

Seduction Motorsports

3215 N. Arizona Ave. Ste. B9

I feel like weekly I have to deal with someone's opinion about if we're real or not... been in business for 3 years now and going strong.. if we weren't pushing out vehicles we would not be afford to keep the doors open. This is a full time shop, full time career... not sure what use to say about that.

This is not directed at you Troy, I am just tired of messages and rude comments by most of the members here who troll behind a computer from their desk.

-Daniel

I took Daniel up on his offer last week and stopped by to check out his operation ( I live about 5 miles away in Mesa ). I found a very serious crew working on 3 pre-sold Spyders at the same time, all Subbie powered with a very high standard of workmanship. I had never met or spoke to Daniel before in my life.

I was just curious if anyone here has one yet.

No rude comments in this thread. But I get quite a few. Also get quite of few messages that have no point to them except to see if I actually exist. Thanks to "kit car" companies in the past, I have to always be proving that we're real and building vehicles. I get lots of messages asking why none of my clients post on the forums... They're just busy people.

Daniel:

Welcome to the SOC.  I don't think I've ever said that before, but you've been on here for a while and deserve to be recognized.

You recently wrote: "Thanks to "kit car" companies in the past, I have to always be proving that we're real and building vehicles. I get lots of messages asking why none of my clients post on the forums."

I can totally believe this, as the likes of Tom McBurnie, CMC and a couple more (still in business and, unfortunately, finding buyers on here) have really soured the market with their sucky business practices.  You happened to come along in the middle of one of those implosions and suffered from the backlash of some of our more vocal "members", whether or not they understood what was really going on.

Personally, I applaud you for having the guts to get into this business.   I understand how hard it is to get a new, small business going (especially in the current environment) and I truly hope that you guys do well.  I would LOVE to get out there and pay a visit (my wife was part of the team that introduced the hi-tech vehicle inspection system to Arizona in 1977 - please don't hold that against us!) but doubt that will happen soon.

In the meantime, keep working on those cars and keep the hobby going.  Few on here realize that less than 40% of the 356/550 replica owners show up on this forum (personally, I think our current group is closer to 25% of total) and don't know that there are a LOT of other owners out there, most enjoying their cars.

Thanks, Daniel.  Keep those cars coming and tell your folks to have a GREAT Holiday season.  Last time I was out there at Christmas, all of the light poles in downtown Phoenix had a Santa on one side of the pole, and his Burro (carrying presents in it's bags) on the other side of the pole and below each a banner that said "Olé!"

Feliz Navided a mis amigos de "Seduction Motorsports!!"

Gordon

That weird "Speedstah Guy" from Massachusetts

I agree with the above posts. Some previous practices have made many people think "here we go again". In this niche market coupled with the past practices I think you are guilty until proven innocent. It appears you are trying very hard to produce a quality product, keep it up and you will succeed and found innocent. Good luck and keep on, keeping on!

Gary

Daniel,

Gordon makes a good point about the timing. You appeared on the scene about the same time and there may have been some confusion of who was who. I'll admit to being somewhat confused at times (but I am old and frail and should be forgiven).

i would also like to add my opinion. You seem to do a fine job building your cars and have added some new positive twists, however, at times you appear just a little confrontational and showing a minor chip on your shoulder. I think most of the regulars here all wish you success with your business. Maybe less "bring it on" comments might be a more friendly way of introducing yourself. There's room for everyone, your particular product will attract those clients. Don't turn it into a competition, just enjoy the overall comaradarie here. My two cents.

I started a piece earlier about how manufacturers in this hobby come and go (some coming back again, and again), but you're a big boy and you know you build what looks like a great car and are contributing to the hobby, so ignore any negative b.s. you may have got beforehand. You've been around long enough now (or so it seems) that you're going to be a presence for a while, so take Rich's (and everyone else's) advice and let yourself be welcomed into the fold...Al

Lots of hard feelings occur on internet forums because things are said in jest or to just start "trouble".

Daniel I'd like to offer you every encouragement and I would think that the vast majority of the "other" guys do as well.

I can't think of a more challenging business.  People tend to expect something exceptional for unexceptional money and expect it immediately ( I know I do )  It would be so much easier to just build a car and sell it.  Offer a choice of paint colors.   I know in this market that's not possible but this custom order stuff would be so difficult  I bet Alan would testify to this as well.   Buy the car fix it up and sell it rather then try to satisfy some idiot who really doesn't even know what he wants or what he SHOULD want.   I am speaking from the perspective of a new owner and an uninformed buyer.

You will never make everyone happy but honesty and hard work will carry you pretty far with reasonable people.  If there is any trick to this car business (or any other for that matter) it would be building cars for the right people and more importantly NOT building for the wrong people.     Again a real problem for the custom car builders. Your only real requirement that works is building for the guys with THE MONEY.

Most of us especially on the east coast have almost no way to feel and touch before buying. Talking with the builder couldn't hurt sales either.  And a reputation for service after the sale which is darned tricky I understand that.

I appreciate your research and development.   Improvements are being made across the board.  I believe the forum members of standing would agree to that (?)  I get the impression that you are really trying to advance the cars as well as make a quality product.

You seem like a very reasonable fellow.   Take this forum stuff for what it's worth and don't let it get to you.

Short answer.   We get it man.  All the best and keep talking.  If nothing else we are interesting in hearing your side of it.   I've notice that a couple of the builders post fairly often others never do.   Just like the actors and politicians.  Negative press is better then no press.  Stand up for yourself if you need to.

There are tons more buyers and owners out there than the few of us on this website.

That may be true. Pretty hard to say.  Probably better answered by the other builders.  Carlisle events attracts a very large crowd I do know that.
