Me and my Speedy attended and participated in our first car show this weekend! It was hosted by two local businesses that share a parking lot (DCF Guns and 105 West Brewing Co). And OK - it was small and local (about 40 cars) - but with a festival like atmosphere including live music, lots of beer, a bouncy house for the kids, food trucks, and a totally down to earth relaxed and friendly vibe, it was an absolute blast!! The event was very well attended and drew a very eclectic crowd.
My little white Speedster drew quite a bit of attention, and was even awarded First Place in the Classic/Import category!!!
How cool is that!!! The comment that we heard all day long, over and over, was that “I can’t help but smile when I look at your car!!”. It’s sort of a recurring theme with these cars, isn’t it? Spreading that Speedster Love, baby!!
A special shout-out to MUSBJIM for helping me to craft a placard readily identifying the car as a ‘reproduction’ ‘57 356 Speedster and short circuiting any potential P-badge purist ‘experts’ or naysayers. His advice was as good as gold and facilitated nothing but positive feedback, great conversation, genuine curiosity, and unbridled enthusiasm for the car all day long! Thank you, Jim!
Hope that everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend!
