I'd like to adjust the spring plate angle on my UK Chesil speedster, but I've found out (a little late!) that it may be difficult to this with the body on.

I don't suppose anyone's managed this on an IRS car, a Chesil body in particular? I'd hoped it would be possible to pull the bar out (or pull the spring plate off the bar) just far enough to rotate the torsion bar on the splines.

I've attached a couple of pictures of a Chesil from the UK, but it has 944 rear suspension. Could someone take a look and see if you think there'd be enough room under the body to rotate a standard bug IRS spring plate?

Simon,

I've got adjustable spring plates too - I was thinking of tweaking the angle to get the adjuster at the end of it's travel when the car is at it's 'normal' height, so I can raise the rear if I ever need to (ground clearance I guess)

I did indeed take a long break from my project, due to a few unfortunate events, but things are back on track now, and the car is MOTd and will be on the road in a couple of weeks

Thanks again for all the help you've given me and others - it's made getting the car finished a lot more straightforward!
Jon,

You may get away with a turn just on the outer or inner spline then, not needing to be too precise (having the adjustability too)?

I have to admit that with my Type IV engine i'm now at the 'maximim' height of my rear adjustment and so need to perform the same exercise (especially if I put a sump tunacan extension on)- so let me know how it goes!!

Cheers,
Simon
