I have available a 550 Spyder Parking Brake Kit. Please note this is for Spyders, not 356's, although Cory has aqdapted one on Hoopty. So, I guess it certainly could be adapted somewhat like he did...drop me a note if interested in a copy of the installation instructions to better understand what is and what is not...jdubois77354(at)comcast.net I think DrClock put one of these on his Spyder a while back also, and more recently Dannyp did likewise....

Sorry, one of my cut and paste's did not make the trip.....here is the information including price:

I have just completed another run of parking brake kits...I have a fair number of kits in stock and ready to ship...

After several years of trying to get a replica 550 Spyder handbrake delivered from others I ended up engineering, developing and producing one for myself and ultimately made many handbrake kits for Spyder owners worldwide.

Please note this is not intended to be an exact replica of an original Spyder brake, but rather a re-engineered piece that works well with our replicas.

Recently, I was asked to make a number of kits for a Spyder 550 replica maker, and I did so. I am pleased to offer these kits to fellow Spyder owners. These kits are powdered coated, silver only, and have mostly stainless steel hardware (bolts, nuts, spacers, and springs). Also, there are now lightening holes in the release as well as the main handle (cosmetic). The frame is of 1/8" mild steel as are the ratchet and latch assemblies. The kits are complete with instructions, threaded rod to connect with the parking brake cables, and a clamp to connect the cables to the rod. Several of the regulars on this forum have installed these kits, as well as at least one unnamed Administrator

The kit is $350 plus shipping. Shipping is by USPS, and to the lower 48 the cost is between $10.31 and 14.65. Other places? Actual shipping costs to your location....no packing charges or fees....we do ship internationally, but recommend an email with location to confirm. International orders tend to have an "at sellers risk" element to them, and I generally don't like to be on the receiving end of unplesantness....

Additional details: The car owner will need to make up a bracket to mount the brake handle (1.800" dia. tube welded to a 1/8" mild steel plate that is applied to the side of a cable shifter, or under the shifter on some cars, or bracketed to the floor on others). Given the number of different approaches used by the several car builders over the years, there is no "one bracket fits all" and as such we do not attempt to provide that bracket as part of our kit. I am more than willing to assist any brake kit buyer in making a bracket...but the bracket is not part of the kit, nor part of the kit price. I am more than happy to send out a set of instructions to any interested parties, as well as other details you might need, and I can do some custom work remotely, if needed.
